The news hit today that Donald Glover will be returning to the comfortable space-shoes of Lando Calrissian in an exclusive Disney+ series. This news comes well after Disney scrapped most of its Star Wars spin-off movie plans, leaving the future of films like Solo, and Donald Glover's rendition of Lando, in doubt of a return.

While no details have been confirmed as of yet, the news of Donald Glover's return to the iconic role is sure to excite fans of Star Wars and Donald Glover alike, as his presence in Solo: A Star Wars Story was a notable high point of the film. Glover's return to the Star Wars universe was originally in doubt, as Disney had made no mention of future sequels for Solo, and Glover's notoriously busy schedule seemed like a significant roadblock to future appearances.

The news was broken by Noah Outlaw, host of Kessel Run Radio, who revealed that his sources had said that Glover would be returning to the role for a Disney+ series. For now, the news is not officially confirmed, and little else known. After the success of The Mandalorian, it is possible that Disney sees the value in having another big name show for their streaming service, which could justify the reportedly significant cost of bringing back Donald Glover.

Solo: A Star Wars Story released in theaters to poor sales, and under-preformed significantly compared to other Star Wars projects, leading to Disney's decision to scrap several other spin-off projects and focus on the main sequel trilogy of movies. After the release of Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker, however, there are no currently announced plans for what the next Star Wars film to hit theaters will be, especially in light of the coronavirus pandemic, which has made it difficult for any projects to be filmed or released.

While there are still no concrete details on what story this new Disney+ series will be telling, or when it will be released, it is certainly exciting to see Donald Glover get another shot at playing an iconic Star Wars role. Hopefully the project will be officially announced soon, and with any luck, it'll live up to its promise.
