The following contains spoilers for Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness.Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been busy doing a lot of heavy lifting to introduce new characters and storylines. After the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame concluded the original MCU stories, new characters and new directions for those characters are a must.

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness brings one of those new characters into the MCU. America Chavez, played by Xochitl Gomez, is a teenager who can literally punch holes between universes. While she doesn’t initially know how to control that ability, it’s her very ability that sees the Scarlet Witch trying to track her down. The power to travel the multiverse will certainly make her a powerful ally to other heroes as she grows in the MCU, but the audience doesn’t know yet where she’ll pop up next. She was last seen studying sorcery under Wong at Kamar-taj. Just where in the MCU would the audience like to see her next?

Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania

There has been a lot of speculation that Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop might pop up in the Ant-Man sequel as she goes on the hunt for more Pym arrows. Both characters don’t necessarily need to appear in the movie, but it would be interesting to see both or either character cross paths with Cassie Lang, who goes onto become the hero Stature in the comics.

Given that the movie is set to see Kang the Conqueror as the primary villain - someone who has many timeline variants in many universes who serve different functions - America’s abilities could be helpful to Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne in their inevitable battle against him. Of course, the duo do have access to the Quantum Realm (as the title implies), so they might not necessarily need America’s help. America potentially forming a friendship with Cassie, however, could still be a good way to creep just a bit closer to their eventual team-up.

Loki Season 2

One version of Kang was already introduced in the first season of the Disney Plus series Loki. There, he was He Who Remains, and the founder of the Time Variance Authority. While the TVA was intent on preserving the sacred timeline, they might find America very interesting as there are no multiversal versions of her, only one.

It could also be here that the MCU introduces a different variant of Kang, one America gets to know pretty well in the comics. Iron Lad becomes one of her friends and teammates, so it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility for him to make his first appearance here. America also teams up with a version of “Kid Loki” in the comics, another character the series has already briefly introduced. The timeline-shifting series could be a good place for her to guest star to start planting the seeds of that team.

What If…?

As America points out to Doctor Strange in her MCU debut, she doesn’t exist in other universes. She doesn’t dream, which means there are no echoes of her multiversal self bleeding through. That means there wouldn’t be additional versions of her in What If…? She is, however, the one character in the MCU who could effortlessly tie all the different universes together in her travels.

There are years between the first use of America’s powers and her meeting up with Doctor Strange in the main universe. That means there are years of adventures that could be explored with her crossing paths with variants of other MCU heroes and villains. America is clearly someone who is used to being on the run, and meeting new versions of familiar faces doesn’t phase her anymore. Having her character appear in stories for the second season What If…? seems like a no-brainer.

A Young Avengers Project

It will likely be a few more years before the MCU gives the Young Avengers their own movie or series, but it also seems like the team is a foregone conclusion at this point. Consisting of Iron Lad, Kid Loki, America Chavez, Kate Bishop, Cassie Lang, Billy and Tommy Maximoff (who were introduced in WandaVision, but have multiversal counterparts in Doctor Strange 2), and Eli Bradley (who was introduced in The Falcon And The Winter Soldier), nearly all the characters are already in the MCU to make it happen. Founding member Teddy Altman, or Hulking, is still missing, but the return of the Kree and the Skrulls in projects like The Marvels and Secret Invasion might mean the Kree-Skrull shapesifter is on the way.

America and the other members of the team will likely cross paths in other projects before the Young Avengers form unless they all just happen to be recruited at the same time like the original Avengers lineup was in the 2012 The Avengers movie.

An A-Force Project

A-Force comic book lineup of Nico, Dazzler, She-Hulk, Captain Marvel, and Medusa

A-Force is a comic book team consisting solely of female characters. The MCU provided a nod to it when the female characters on the battlefield united to protect Captain Marvel with the Infinity Gauntlet in Avengers: Endgame, but the move wasn’t well-received since most of the characters had never interacted at that point. Several cast members of the MCU reportedly spoke with Kevin Feige about the possibility of making an A-Force movie, and as more female heroes are added to the MCU roster it seems like a good time to do it.

The most famous comic book lineup included X-Men character Dazzler, Runaways character Nico Minoru, Inhumans character Medusa, Captain Marvel, She-Hulk (soon to have her own Disney Plus show), and the mysterious Singularity. Most of those characters have yet to appear in the main timeline of the MCU, but the lineup wouldn’t have to be exactly the same as there are already some incredibly powerful female characters in the MCU. That version of the team unites when America Chavez is imprisoned for a crime she didn’t intentionally commit in the Battleword arc in Marvel Comics, so she is the original catalyst for it. Giving her a larger arc in an A-Force movie would definitely be welcome.
