Mobile adventure game Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins has a brand-new teaser trailer featuring one of Doctor Who's most terrifying monsters: the Weeping Angels. At the same time, digital entertainment studio Maze Theory revealed the game is set to launch on March 19.

Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins takes place in the aftermath of Blink, an episode from series three of the television show starring David Tennant. In the episode, the tenth doctor traps the Weeping Angels in the basement of Wester Drumlins; however, in the new teaser, the angels are back and more dangerous as ever.

The Lonely Assassins will play like a found-phone game, with players receiving cryptic messages from returning ex-UNIT scientist Petronella Osgood, who tries to help the player survive the onslaught of the Weeping Angels. In the game, the Weeping Angels - widely considered one of the best Doctor Who villains - also have the means to infiltrate technology, meaning that no device is safe. Players are drawn into the dark mystery of the supposedly abandoned Wester Drumlins house, where things are not as they seem.

The game uses both live-action footage and gameplay to weave its dark tale, and actress Ingrid Oliver returned to reprise her role as Osgood in the Doctor Who video game. Gameplay will involve sorting through chat logs and searching through a number of in-game apps for information on how to defeat the angels. Players can visit the game's website for pre-registration now, and unlock special rewards including bonus story content, digital wallpapers, and printable posters.

Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins releases March 19, 2021 for Android and iOS devices.
