While Marvel Studios' MCU films embrace the fantastic elements of the comics, an interesting and endlessly entertaining byproduct of movies striving for more and more realism is the increased tendency for experts in any given field to point out exactly what those movies are doing wrong. Hollywood has certainly come a long way since the days of squirting chocolate syrup out of a dude's costume to look like blood, to the point where it isn't uncommon for a film's effects to be nearly indistinguishable from real life. But with great ambition comes great critics, and sometimes these attempts at realism completely miss the mark.

Movies are an extension of reality, so it makes sense that they would often try to recreate familiar situations from reality in an attempt to increase the audience's immersion. The thing is, nearly every possible discipline from real-life archeology to the most obscure hobbies out there has its own set of experts. So when a movie or show tries to depict a small part of the life these occupational virtuosos have carved out for themselves, it's only natural that some will be more than happy to point out any inaccuracies they see. Just ask any marching band member to watch Drumline to see the fireworks fly.

Today's entry in the world of experts saying "wrong" a bunch of times comes from the medical field. Unlike other, more expected callouts like fight experts critiquing combat scenes in movies and TV, this particularly interesting video points out what several Marvel Studios films get wrong (and right) in their onscreen displays of various medical scenes. Courtesy of YouTuber Dr. Mikhail "Doctor Mike" Varshavski D.O., viewers get a surprisingly easy-to-digest examination and explanation of many common misconceptions regarding medicine.

Varshavski touches upon a number of Marvel movies, including Thor, Iron Man, Captain America: The First Avenger, and Doctor Strange in his short quest to enlighten the moviegoing public. Breaking down several scenes in such a way that the average viewer can fully understand his intentions, he offers some insightful and entertaining glimpses at what he and his colleagues see when their profession is represented on the big screen.

Interestingly, however, he doesn't just cover the stuff that films do wrong for the sake of pure entertainment. He also explains what's going on in certain scenes while pointing out elements that are actually done right. For instance, while he ends the video with a good-natured "freakout" over yet another movie using defibrillator paddles in a situation where they don't belong, he also made sure to explain why it made sense to inject the supersoldier serum into Steve's muscles in Captain America.

It's an informative and occasionally hilarious video that helps audiences understand how different real-world medicine is compared to the stuff seen in most forms of media. Hopefully, it results in at least one less audience member yelling at the screen "just use the paddles!"
