Since The Division 2's release date last month, Massive has been busy addressing some of the new looter shooter's more problematic bugs before bringing increasingly difficult content to the game. Now, the launch of The Division 2's World Tier 5 is imminent, and the developer has announced that it will be making a number of changes alongside its release.

Scheduled to go live on Friday, April 5, the next The Division 2 update will be the game's first "balancing pass," and it is focused on skills, mods, and more. With respect to skills, there are three that are being specifically targeted by the update: the Sniper Turret, the Chem Launcher, and the FireFly. Details on the changes are as follows:

  • Sniper Turrets will track enemies and be controllable, allowing players to aim them at a foe's specific body part, such as head or weak point.
  • Chem Launchers can be activated and used like a weapon until they are put away, giving players more control of the skill.
  • FireFly aiming has been reworked, making it so that players can mark their opponents more quickly.

Skill mods are also being revamped, with the bonuses they grant correlating directly with the skill power that is required to unlock them. Furthermore, the amount of skill power that can be gained from gear has also changed, with the goal of allowing players to unlock more skill mods and increase the viability of builds based around The Division 2's best skills.

So too, weapon mods are being reworked significantly, and players can look forward to experimenting with new modifications to their The Division 2 exotics. Specifically, the negative aspects of a majority of weapon mods has been removed, and there will be a mod for every weapon slot that has no negative value. To compensate for this change, positive values have been reduced.

A number of actual weapons will also be altered in the upcoming update. Namely, the LVOA-C, the Lightweight M4, the Shotgun AA12, and the LMG MG5 will be buffed, while the Sniper M700 and the Rifle MK17 will deal less damage.

With this update, Massive shows that it is not content to allow The Division 2 to stagnate. While our The Division 2 review describes the game as a "vastly superior product" when compared to its predecessor, many fans will certainly be excited to know that changes are continuing to be made to the title.
