Following a period of early access, The Division 2 officially released last Friday, and many players are now scouring the streets of Washington D.C. for firefights and loot. However, some of these players have been encountering a bug that prevents them from using their skills properly, and Ubisoft has taken a moment to address the situation.

Posting in a thread on The Division 2 forums, Ubisoft Community Developer Chris Gansler indicated that correcting the skill bug is currently the team's "highest priority," though no official timeline for a fix was given. To this point, Gansler states that resolving the issue without bringing more bugs to the game is of the utmost importance, and doing so means that the fix is taking longer to implement than the developers would like.

To clarify on the specifics of the bug, fans are noting that, at times, a skill will quickly deactivate after being used, which prevents a player from reaping the benefit of the skill and leaves them facing a 15-second cooldown before they can attempt to use it again. Reports have specifically indicated that this bug can affect of number of the game's skills, including the Drone, Turret, and Shield.

In The Division 2, proper deployment of a skill can be the difference between life and death, and Gansler emphasizes that he understands how "incredibly frustrating" the bug can be. "I died to it yesterday as well, I feel your pain," he writes.

Certainly, the skill bug is creating a lot of frustration for some players, especially those playing solo, and Gansler's suggestion that a fix is still in the works may be disheartening to those that hoped that the issue to be resolved immediately. That said, others will certainly appreciate the developer's commitment to confirming the quality of an update before launching it.

Gansler has further indicated that the patch that will address the skill bug will also contain some additional fixes, which he hopes "will have a positive impact for everybody." Indeed, it seems that players that are able to work around some of the issues that currently appear in The Division 2 can look forward to seeing a number of improvements with the forthcoming update.

The Division 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
