One of the most exciting new features being introduced with The Division 2 is the 8-player raid, which will give players a new way to test their skills while working with friends or strangers. However, the game's developers have now issued some disappointing news regarding the availability of raids.

In an interview with YouTuber Arrekz, The Division 2 game director Mathias Karlson and the game's creative director Julian Gerighty confirmed that raids would not be available at launch. Gerighty explained that raids are the "most hardcore endgame activity" in the game and that it will "take a while to get leveled up for it, to get the gear for it, and to get a team ready." Because of the need for leveling up and getting used to the game's mechanics, raids will release "a little bit after the game launches."

The developers further explained that raids "are not going to be easy." The gameplay activity will include "bespoke" boss battles and mechanics as well as "Specializations, RPG systems, our shooting systems, eight players, working with groups, splitting up groups" and a "social puzzling element." With this increased difficulty in mind, many fans will be understanding about the delayed release if it means that they will have a better chance at completing raids once they are available.

It's also worth noting that in a previous interview, Gerighty confirmed that The Division 2 will have multiple raids in its first year of content. This should mean that even if players have to wait a short while to try their hand at the game's very first raid, there may not be long to wait until they can enjoy the second.

In fact, the developers are hoping to offer up more endgame content in general - and to release post-launch DLC a lot quicker than with the first game. In another recent interview, developer Red Storm Entertainment revealed that post-launch DLC plans for The Division 2 include new PvP (player versus player) modes for players to enjoy.

The Division 2's developers see DLC and post-launch support as an "ongoing commitment" to keep people in the game and enjoying what it has to offer. While that may mean a small wait between launch and the first DLC drop, many fans will be happy with the proposed DLC schedule overall.

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is scheduled to launch on March 15, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
