UPDATE 2/12: Ubisoft has confirmed that an open beta for The Division 2 will take place from March 1 to March 4. Original story follows.

The Private Beta for Tom Clancy's The Division 2 has now come to a close, with many would-be Agents having been able to try out some main missions, side quests, an endgame mission, three different Specializations, PvP in the Dark Zone, and more. While this trial period has ended, it looks as if Ubisoft plans on giving players another go at some of the game's content by holding an open beta ahead of the third-person shooter's launch.

This much was revealed during a recent live stream on The Division 2's official Twitch channel, with one of the developers stating that the team aims to have some of the bugs and errors present in the Private Beta fixed for the open beta. Of course, it must be noted that Ubisoft has yet to provide a public announcement or press release regarding any plans for an open beta, so we will likely find out soon enough exactly when to expect it.

The reveal of an open beta for The Division 2 likely won't come as much of a surprise to fans of the first game, as Ubisoft held a closed beta for The Division 1 in January 2016, and then an open beta in February 2016 ahead of its release in March 2016. The release timeline is a little bit different for the sequel, but an open beta should provide developers with an opportunity to properly stress test the servers and fix any of the lingering issues that may still exist.

All things considered, there's no telling just yet what The Division 2's open beta would contain, but it's safe to presume that it will offer up most, if not all of what the Private Beta provided for players. Aside from frequent texture pop-ins and the occasional player avatar glitches, we didn't encounter many issues during our time with the Private Beta over the weekend, but for those who came across more glaring problems, we can only hope Ubisoft will have them rectified ahead of the open beta and the game's launch in March.

Tom Clancy's The Division 2 is scheduled to release on March 15, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
