Collecting masks in The Division was a fun end-game activity, offering unique mask customizations including clown masks, hockey masks, and gas masks. The Division 2 is continuing the feature, allowing players to earn a variety of masks by undertaking difficult Hunter boss fight encounters. These Hunter Masks, while not as diverse in make-up as The Division's cosmetics, still offer players an opportunity to drop the beanies and baseball caps for something a little more intimidating.

To earn masks in The Division, players had to complete unique challenges in Survival, Resistance, Underground, and Global Events like Assault and Strike. In The Division 2, players must simply hunt down Hunters. There are eight specific Hunter encounters in The Division 2, at least for now, and each of them requires certain actions in the open world to spawn.

Hunters are a returning feature from The Division's Survival mode. They are designed to be player-like AI enemies that are uniquely challenging, utilizing a level of mobility and skill that other AI doesn't have. Every Hunter in The Division 2 is a little is unique, with their own style of gameplay. In general, however, just teaming up with other players to fight these Hunters should be enough to defeat them. Each is level 35, so while it's possible to spawn them at any level, it's recommended to only take them on after reaching level 30 and earning a bit of endgame gear.

At any given time, players can go downstairs at the White House to the Network Room to see how many masks they've already collected, as they'll be hanging on the wall. The wall shows that there are 12 possible masks to unlock, but at this time only 10 masks have been discovered. It's unclear if the remaining 2 masks are not in the game yet, if they'll be microtransactions, or if they have yet to be discovered. But odds are it'll be the latter, with their secret likely to be uncovered before too long.

Crimson Mask

At night, travel to the Downtown East region and into the building to the northwest of the F St NW and 7th St NW intersection. Start in this building's courtyard. Move south into the building to and look behind one of the desks to find a computer that can be interacted with. Activate the computer to finish the first part of summoning the Crimson Hunter.

After activating the computer, turn around and run through the courtyard and into the northern part of the building. At the second half-circle desk, a phone will be on the left side that's interactive. Activate this phone to get the Crimson Hunter to spawn in the middle of the courtyard. Eliminate the hunter to be rewarded the Crimson Mask.

Demon Mask

Go to the Downtown East region, night or day, and into the building to the northeast of the intersection at Pennsylvania Ave. NW and 13th St. NW. Enter it by going in the west side of the building from 13th St. NW. Find the escalators going down and follow them. Follow the tunnel turning to the right around the building, go up a small set of stairs, and then turn left into the atrium at the center of the building.

While inside the atrium, climb up into the small garden area filled with large boulders and greenery. Turn towards the west while standing in-between the large boulders and there should be four visible targets hidden the windows ahead. Shoot them starting from the upper left and moving towards the bottom right. The Demon Hunter will spawn below in the atrium. Eliminate him to earn the Demon Mask.

Ghoul Mask

Start in West Potomac Park, north of the Lincoln Memorial. Go about halfway up Henry Bacon Dr. NW and turn east to find a sewer entrance. Follow the tunnel and go up the first set of stairs but not the second. If you turn left, there will be an Echo. To the right of the Echo will be a laptop that can be activated (either in day or night). Activating the laptop will show a map with an X and a moon symbol, completing the first part of activating the Ghoul Hunter.

At night time (this won't work during the day), go to the location shown on the map from the first step. This is in West Potomac Park, directly east of the Lincoln Memorial and near a Water Resource Node. Within the Water Resource Node area, there will be a small tower of sorts made out of scaffolding and sheet metal on top of a shipping container. In this tower, below a hanging tarp, will be a lightbulb flashing on and off. Shoot the lightbulb and the Ghoul Hunter will appear in the tower in a flash of smoke. Eliminate the Hunter to acquire the Ghoul mask.

Wraith Mask

In the Southwest region at night, go to where the eastern lane of Interstate 395 BN and "Ramp" split, moving south. There will be a memorial, a counterpart to the real-life American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial, with a very shallow pool of water in front of it. If you turn away from the memorial while standing in the water, you'll see a light shining onto the memorial. Shoot out this light to complete the first step in spawning the Wraith Hunter.

After the light has been shot out, the next step takes place in the same memorial area. Stand outside the pool facing the memorial and use the "Salute" emote while looking at the memorial until the Wraith Hunter spawns. The exact position and number of Salutes required has been misreported and is thus difficult to accurately describe, so the best advice is to move from spot to spot in front of the memorial doing 10 emotes each time until the Hunter spawns. It should work eventually. Eliminate the Hunter to acquire the Wraith Mask.

Cross, Death, Diamond, Phantom Masks

This final activity will ultimately spawn four different hunters at the same time, so be prepared for a potentially challenging encounter. At night go to the East Mall region. The specific location will be the park to the southwest of the intersection between Constitution Ave NW and 7th St. NW, within a Water Resource Node. There is a large Christmas tree in the middle of it.

To start, go west of the Christmas tree and into the building. Within the building is a large rectangle of countertops. If you look at the south part of these countertops, next to what appears to be a cappuccino maker, there will be a lever. Activate this leaver to start the next part of the encounter.

After activating the lever, run back west to the Christmas tree in the park. Start running around the Christmas tree in a clockwise direction. After just a couple of times going around the Christmas tree, three hunters will spawn towards the west of the Christmas tree: the Cross, Death, and Diamond Hunters. A fourth Hunter, the Phantom Hunter, will spawn further to the east and in 7th street. It's unclear if eliminating the first three before the fourth will despawn the first three, or vice versa, but it won't hurt to try and get all of them into the firefight before starting to eliminate them. Thus acquired are the Cross, Death, Diamond, and Phantom Masks.

Midas, Revenant Masks

At night, head to the West End region. Start at the far west where the Rock Creek & Potomac Pkwy Hwy and the F St. NW road come together. Moving north past the crescent-shaped building, but before reaching the next building, move off the highway east. There should be a big, overgrown swimming pool. Stand in the water towards the middle of the pool facing the red lights lining the pool's side and then start doing the  Jumpin Jacks emote. This should spawn both the Midas and Revenant Hunters directly in front of the pool on an upper level. Eliminate both Hunters to earn the Midas and Revenant Masks.

the division 2 masks empty

Going off of the White House Network Room wall where the masks are displayed, there are still 2 more masks to find beyond the 10 that are have already been discovered. Players are combing the Washington D.C. area in The Division 2 looking for interactive objects hoping to trigger the last two Hunters' spawn, but no one has had any luck yet. Stay tuned for this guide to be updated once the final two masks are found. Otherwise, enjoy the masks that are available and hopefully one of them fits

The Division 2 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
