When it comes to player choice and customizability of characters in RPGs, Divinity: Original Sin 2 sets a new standard. The number of interactions between elements in the game is staggering, and the variety of paths and playstyles available outshines most modern games, RPG or not.

There are several unique items in Divinity: Original Sin 2 that provide unique abilities to classes that can't traditionally use them or have such egregiously good stat bonuses that you would be a fool to pass them up. Usually, unique weapons can be found through quests or on special NPCs throughout the world.

10 Ifan's Crossbow, the Shadow's Eye

Ifan's Crossbow, the Shadow's Eye, is only acquired through the progression of his personal questline. After leaving Fort Joy and completing the associated parts of Ifan's personal story there, head to the Undead Lizard Zaleskar near the east exit.

Ifan will receive a special weapon from Zaleskar to use in his contract to kill Bishop Alexander, the powerful Shadow's Eye. It gives its wielder the Chameleon Cloak ability and also boosts critical damage and chance.

9 The Swornbreaker

The Swornbreaker is a unique Axe in Divinity: Original Sin 2 that can reverse your decision to ally with the God-King, if you have made such an oath. It's found on a statue in Arhu's Prison in The Arx, as part of an end-game questline.

You can actually find two of these in the game – one is crafted, one is found in the quest – so it's best to turn in the quest Swornbreaker for the reward. The Swornbreaker ability releases the caster from their oath, returning Bless to its original state.

8 Chastity / Abstinence

Knives the Flencer Divinity Original Sin 2 Unique Weapons

Chastity and Abstinence are two daggers found on Kniles the Flencer in Fort Joy at the very start of the game. These daggers won't take you to the end of the game, but they're unmatched in the early stages of the game for any character who duel-wields, like a Rogue or Shadowblade.

Chastity adds the Bleeding effect to struck enemies, while Abstinence applies the Silenced effect to enemies. Each effect has a 10% chance to activate, but with two attacks each turn you can expect one of the two effects to proc every few rounds.

7 Vord Emver

The Vord Emver is a powerful end-game crossbow that gives its wielder the Cryotherapy skill in addition to a number of bonuses. Skills that receive a bonus from the Vord Emver include Finesse, Huntsman, and Ranged, while Life Steal and Accuracy are also increased.

The real power of this crossbow comes from its passive 20% chance to freeze an enemy on hit. Paired with the ability to freeze surfaces through Cryotherapy, the Vord Emver becomes an elemental force to reckon with.

6 Viper's Tongue

The Viper's Tongue is a unique sword that, like Chastity and Abstinence, is very powerful early in the game. It can be found in a hidden area near the starting beach of Fort Joy, but you will need the Teleportation ability to get it.

The Viper's Tongue is one-handed and adds one point to both strength and warfare when equipped. It also has higher crit damage than normal swords, making it a perfect fit for close-combat damage dealers.

5 Houndmaster's Crossbow

The Houndmaster's Crossbow is a unique weapon tied to one of the sadder moments in the game. In Fort Joy, players with the ability to speak with animals can talk to Buddy the Dog, who asks where his friend Emmie is. He gives the player a key, which opens the door to the room containing the Houndmaster's Crossbow as well as a few hounds to deal with.

One of the hounds is Emmie, and it's hard to deal with her and the other hounds without fighting. The reward for this endeavor, though is a crossbow that has a good chance to slow enemies and increases its wielder's accuracy.

4 Teleportation Gloves

The Teleportation Gloves are a must-get for every Divinity: Original Sin 2 player, no matter what playstyle you are going for. They are found very early on the body of a crocodile to the North West of Fort Joy, and they will be useful for the rest of the playthrough.

These gloves have unimpressive stats, but they grant their wielder the Teleportation ability. This makes sneaking and getting to secret areas incredibly easy, even if you're not specced into Teleportation.

3 The Illuminator, Bracchus Rex's Torch

The Illuminator Divinity Original Sin 2 Unique Weapons

The Torch of Bracchus Rex, The Illuminator, is a one-handed mace with a number of powerful secondary effects on it. It gives a higher crit chance and higher crit damage, a bonus to the Pyrokinetic skill, and a high chance to burn hit targets.

It's found on the body of Scapor, an Undead Lizard responsible for the burning pigs to the east of Fort Joy. You will need to use Bless to heal the pigs first, though.

2 Lucian's Divine Staff

Arx Lucian Divine Staff Divinity Original Sin 2 Unique Weapons

Lucian's Divine Staff is a two-handed staff found in Arhu's Chamber in the Arx, and can only be acquired through thievery. It gives a huge bonus to Intelligence, Constitution, Wits, Hydrosophist, and Initiative, as well as grants its wielder the Healing Ritual and Staff of Magus abilities.

This staff is perhaps the best two-handed staff in the game for its ability to turn a damage-focused magic-user into a hybrid healer and damage dealer. It's best used on a Wizard, who can make full use of the Healing Ritual ability granted upon them.

1 Falone Scythe

The Falone Scythe is a two-handed axe that most players agree is the single most powerful weapon in Divinity: Original Sin 2. It gives a huge bonus to Strength, Intelligence, Warfare, and Two-Handed, making it perfect for a close-quarters magic wielder.

It also has a very high chance to give the target the Decaying effect and increases the character's cleave damage by a whopping 50%. If that's not enough, it also grants the Living on the Edge and All In skills. In-game, it is held by a statue in the Arx Cathedral and must be stolen to be equipped.
