Dissidia 012 uses a unique battle system that has been improved upon since the release of the first Dissidia game. One of the biggest new additions to gameplay being the Assist system that allows players' characters to call their allies into battle to attack. This type of assist creates new combos by chaining together two characters' moves.
Most gamers will be aware of the mechanic through fighting games like Marvel vs. Capcom 3, allowing players to tag-in or tag-out different characters on the fly.
These particular screenshots show off the battle system featured in Dissidia and show off attacks like: Tornado, Bitter End, Shield of Light, Particle Beam, Bravery Break, Soul Eater, EX Revenge, and Blaze.

the game's creative producer Tetsuya Nomura recently commented on the future of the Dissidia Final Fantasy series and mentioned that the Dissidia characters could end up in some sort of spin-off title if there is not another entry in the franchise.
Considering how popular Final Fantasy has become over the past years combined with the increase in popularity of the Kingdom Hearts franchise, it would be a great idea to have Kingdom Hearts exclusive characters and Final Fantasy characters appear together in a new type of fighting game.
The battle system could be similar to Dissidia but take more advantage of the acrobatics and fast-flying action that is seen in the Kingdom Hearts series.
Square Enix certainly has come a long way in creating quality fighting games after releasing a game like Ehrgeiz, but will Dissidia 012 be met with the same success as its predecessor? Will fans be begging for another sequel to the Dissida series after playing Dissidia 012?
