While much has been made of Disney Infinity's introduction of Marvel heroes and villains for Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes (2.0 Edition), many may not be familiar with the various gameplay improvements that are on the way for this second iteration. Specifically, Disney Interactive and Avalanche Software have taken the free form creation tool called the Toy Box, and revamped it to be easier and faster to use.

Over this past weekend, DI played host to a Toy Box Summit where they gathered some of the greatest Toy Box creators from Disney Infinity 1.0 and showed them the new tools included with the 2.0 Edition. The development team then held a contest to see which of the Toy Box creators could build the best playground using the new game, and let fans vote through social media. Check out a brief recap of the event in the video above.

As we've detailed before, the Toy Box mode in Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes (2.0 Edition) is getting a major facelift. Avalanche has added new backdrop and theme options, tons of new pieces to manipulate, and even builder and creator characters to make things a little easier. These builder characters come in various different themes and require minimal management — simply place them anywhere in the Toy Box and they will start building.

Alongside the Toy Box Summit, Disney has also unveiled the Toy Box Starter kit for Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes. This set is built specifically with the Toy Box fan in mind, and even has a little something for the Disney Animation fan as well.

The Toy Box Starter kit for Disney Infinity 2.0 includes a copy of the game (of course), Merida and Stitch Disney Originals figures, two Disney Originals Toy Box Game Discs — Stitch's Tropical Rescue and Brave Forest Siege, a web code card, and a poster. Fans will have to wait a few months for this one though since it releases November 4th. The main Marvel starter pack releases September 3rd.

So, although the 2.0 Edition is making a play for Marvel fans, this Toy Box Starter Pack has Disney fans in mind. And for those who enjoy the creativity of Toy Box, it includes two special Game Discs for some added mini-game fun.

Of course, the Toy Box is only one facet of the Disney Infinity experience, the other being the aforementioned story mode, which focuses on a new cast of Marvel characters. For more thoughts on the game itself and the new Guardians of the Galaxy Play Set make sure to read our hands-on preview.

Will you buy the Toy Box Starter Pack for Disney Infinity 2.0? How much time do you plan to spend in the Toy Box?

Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes (2.0 Edition) releases September 23, 2014 for PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
