Disney Plus is going to be getting an even bigger investment from its parent company in 2022, by several billion dollars. The announcement that the budget for Disney Plus will be increased by eight billion dollars was revealed as part of a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

That new investment is an increase over what was already a rather sizable investment in the Disney Plus streaming service by the "Mouse House." The company invested 25 billion in 2021 as it launched several new streaming series like Hawkeye while also bringing several projects from the big screen to people's homes.

The filing didn't just talk about how much money Disney is planning on pouring into its streaming endeavor. The company also made it clear that it plans to launch 50 different movies in 2022. Those releases will be coming in theaters and on the streaming service and will be spread across Lucasfilm, Marvel Studios, Pixar, 20th Century Studios, and Walt Disney Pictures. Disney Plus is also going to be getting 60 unscripted series, 30 comedy series, and 25 drama series along the lines of something like Book of Boba Fett, which will likely get a season 2 next year. The company is also planning several limited, animated, and made-for-tv series all to hit in 2022.

While some of those projects have already been announced, it would appear from this announcement that there are several that still haven't gotten an official reveal. Some of those projects that are known include The Mandalorian season 3, a new Obi-Wan Kenobi series, and another Marvel superhero series in Ms. Marvel. There are quite a few Marvel-based series in the planning stages for next year as well, including She-Hulk and Marvel Zombies. While quite a bit of the plan for Disney Plus was announced earlier in November as part of Disney Plus Day, it's clear that the company didn't let everything out of the bag.

It does appear that some of those plans might be changing as the calendar moves closer to 2022. There are reports that at least one series that was initially planned for 2022 could be pushed into 2023.

New rumors suggest that Star Wars: Ahsoka was originally planned for 2022 but is going to be delayed for at least one more year. However, there has been no official announcement on that score when it comes to Disney Plus, so there's still a chance the series could be coming sometime next year.
