The coronavirus situation has forced many production companies to rethink their movie release schedules, and Disney is no exception. The company has already had to cut the theatrical premiere of its film Onward short due to theaters currently being unsafe.

It's even decided to skip the theatrical release of its upcoming film Artemis Fowl entirely, instead opting to premiere it on Disney Plus at a later date. And Disney's executive chairman Bob Iger predicts that more of the company's movies will have the same fate.

In an interview with Barron's, Iger stated that Disney isn't exactly sure how it will handle its movie releases after Artemis Fowl, but they'll all more than likely get the same treatment. However, when it comes to their "tentpole releases," Disney will probably wait for theaters to become available again instead of giving them Disney Plus premieres.

"Tentpool releases" sound like they refer to things like Marvel's phase four, which Disney recently announced it would be delaying. However, what exactly the term refers to remains unclear. For example, the studio's upcoming Disney-Pixar film Soul premieres June 19, 2020, less than a month after Artemis Fowl's original release. But Disney hasn't announced any changes to that film yet — delay or otherwise.
