Disney Interactive Studios' Future Plans For Marvel

During my time on the show floor at Toronto Comic-Con yesterday, I had the pleasure of meeting Mark Orgel, the Assistant Producer for Disney Interactive Studios. The main focus of the event was on their upcoming racing game, Split/Second which you can read about in my hands-on impressions of the game.

Following my time with the game, I brought up the subject of Disney Interactive's recent acquisition of Marvel. Although he was unable to comment on the acquisition itself, Mark had this interesting bit of information to say about the future use of the Marvel license:

"We are evaluating the entire Marvel library. Not just the characters that everybody knows and loves from the motion pictures today, but the little-known characters."

This information, while vague, really excites me. While it wouldn't be out of the question to expect a Captain America or Deadpool game in the future, this means we may see lesser-known characters such as Agent Zero, Blob, or Speedball among others, making their way onto home consoles some day. I know I'm not the only one who is beginning to get tired hearing about the same superheroes every other week. There are so many other amazing heroes that rarely, if ever, make it into the spotlight that Disney is now able to draw from which could lead to almost unlimited options come future game development.

How do you feel about this news? Are there any lesser-known heroes or villains that you would like to see receive the star treatment?
