Although recent Disney Infinity news briefly moved away from the realm of super heroes, it only took Marvel about a week to edge its way back into the video game limelight. Disney Interactive has already revealed a star-studded announcement trailer and some information that makes the new-generation consoles a tempting home for our Disney Infintiy 2.0 adventures, but the company still has plenty of secrets up its sleeve to reveal before the fall release of the hybrid toy/sandbox adventure game's next iteration.

The latest trailer for Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes puts a spotlight on The Avengers Play Set. The preview is full of gameplay footage and gives fans a closer look at how each of the characters will look in action while they fight, fly, ride, and climb. Sorry Spider-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy fans, but this trailer sticks to The Avengers characters and the villains that show up in New York to cause chaos.

The Avengers Play Set is the first Set to be announced for the upcoming next phase in the Infinity sandbox and features Iron Man, Black Widow, and Thor facing off against Loki and whatever other bad guys he has recruited to help him. Captain America, Hulk, and Hawkeye all show up in the trailer as well and those characters will be sold separately from the Avengers Play Set. Money, money, money!

In addition to the three extra Avengers, Toy Box 2.0 will include hundreds of other Marvel-themed items for players to incorporate into their own unique creations. A brief look at the creation mode can be seen in the trailer and it looks like the more creative players will have plenty of tools to add to their arsenal with Infinity 2.0. The add-on items range from props and vehicles to brand new Marvel locations. Some of the items that will be available through Power Discs were revealed shortly after the announcement.

Although some heroes like Iron Man are lucky enough to fly around the city, one of the most exciting parts of the announcement was the reveal of alternate modes of transportation. In addition to Captain America's motorcycle, the new trailer also shows Black Widow cruising on a bike and Hulk utilizing about the only parallel parking strategy that actually works in New York City.

As far as the plot is concerned (which may be far less important than the sandbox building options for many users), this trailer doesn't give us too much information that we didn't already know. Loki is the primary villain and he is visiting New York to torture his brother, Thor. This time around we do see that the God of Mischief seems to have the city trapped under some kind of ice dome, but that's about all we get aside from lots of our heroes kicking, punching, and shooting trick arrows at grunts.

Is the action-packed trailer enough to tempt you to jump into the world of Disney Infinity this fall or are you turned off by the collectible aspect of the toy-based game? Let us know in the comments.
