Loki, Green Goblin & Ronan Coming to ‘Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes’

Comic-Con 2014 has come and gone, but consumers received plenty of news and previews from a number of prominent properties coming down the pipes in the forthcoming years. Gaming also had a major presence at the event this year, some would even say more so than previous, and comic-related gaming announcements were abundant in San Diego as a result.

One major property that Disney was hyping at Comic-Con was its forthcoming sequel to Disney Infinity, better known as Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes.

This past weekends alone held a bevy of announcements regarding Avalanche Software’s highly anticipated Marvel-filled follow-up such as a new play set dedicated to the Guardians of the Galaxy, further details on the (what will now be the) highly sought after Collector’s Edition of Disney Infinity 2.0 that features a very neat stand that all of the Avengers figures can stand on while not in use, and even a release date for the game.

Not content with just this news, however, the house of mouse wrapped up its Disney Infinity kick by revealing that villains for three major play sets will be making an appearance as playable and collectible characters for the forthcoming entry in the toys-to-life genre.

These three will be Loki (who will be accessible in the Avengers play set), Ronan the Accuser (playable within the Guardians of the Galaxy play set), and Green Goblin (appearing in the Spider-Man play set). All of these evil doers can be purchased separately, although Disney hasn’t ruled out the possibility of releasing them in a Villains pack — something many dedicated Marvel fans would surely be interested in.

Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes will be arriving for PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on September 23, 2014.
