There are three types of ingredients in Disney Dreamlight Valley recipes: mandatory ingredients, versatile ingredients, and unnecessary ingredients. Mandatory ingredients cannot be switched out when following a recipe, versatile ingredients can be switched with ingredients from the same category (for example, a spice, or a vegetable), and unnecessary ingredients add nothing to the recipe and could easily be removed.

The recipe for Veggie Pasta for example made with two mandatory ingredients and one versatile ingredient:

  • Tomato (mandatory)
  • Wheat (mandatory)
  • Any Vegetable (versatile)

How To Gather The Ingredients

All of these ingredients can be obtained pretty early on in the game. Wheat seeds are sold at Goofy's Stall in Peaceful Meadow, tomato seeds are sold at the Stall in Dazzle Beach, and there are other vegetables for the versatile ingredient available in these two Stalls as well. This guide indicates where players can get every ingredient in the game, it has all the vegetable options available.

Players can actually cook this meal without unlocking Dazzle Beach if they've already gained access to Wall-E's garden. Once the abandoned garden is restored, Wall-E will plant seeds at random that the player can then harvest once they're grown.

Any seed from the game can grow in the garden, even seeds that the player hasn't unlocked through story progression yet. This is a great way to cook meals and sell products that they haven't gotten access to yet. The players need to get Wall-E to return from his realm back into the Valley. As soon as he's settled in, the mission to repair the garden will become available.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
