Disney Dreamlight Valley has released a hotfix to cap off October which makes a variety of changes promised by developers earlier this month. Along with a number of bug fixes and improvements, Disney Dreamlight Valley has done away with the exhaustion effect and added several toggle options for various other visual effects.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is often compared to Animal Crossing and other relaxing life-sim games like Stardew Valley, and for good reason. Much like other games in the genre, Disney Dreamlight Valley focuses on low-stakes gameplay and provides a creative outlet for players who wish to explore, design creations, and build relationships with a cast of characters without the threat of violence and danger. Players are tasked with restoring the once-vibrant Dreamlight Valley to its former glory, starting small by clearing away weeds and debris before tackling the magical corruption that threatens the land and its inhabitants.

Earlier this month it was revealed on Discord by developers that Disney Dreamlight Valley was removing the exhaustion effect in a future hotfix, and that promise has been fulfilled with this new update. The game uses an energy system that depletes when the character performs most actions and is restored by spending time at home or consuming food. When players were low on energy, the screen would fade to greyscale and display red warning flashes, which many players found to be jarring and hard to look at. This has been entirely removed, which should help the game remain consistent visually and maintain its relaxing atmosphere.

Although not as content-rich as Disney Dreamlight Valley's Scar update which added the Lion King's antagonist and a new questline, some important changes have made it into this patch. A seizure warning has been added to the game's boot sequence, while toggle options have been added to further customize the game's visual comfort levels. Flashing effects can be toggled off, which includes lightning during storms, white flashing of clouds during storms, and the flashing effect upon catching fish. Screen shake effects have also been given a toggle, making actions like catching fish, mining, and digging much smoother.

As expected, the update also includes a number of general bug fixes and performance improvements such as the B button properly skipping dialogue boxes once again or resolving the occasional visual glitch. Disney Dreamlight Valley's quality-of-life changes have shown that the game intends to grow increasingly accessible and comfortable for its players, with more improvements likely on the way.
