The Village in Disney Dreamlight Valley is a large place, especially as players unlock more biomes for the villagers to roam around in. While fast travel is possible via the wells located in each biome, it does take time to unlock all of them, and they are very expensive because Scrooge McDuck sets obnoxiously high prices on everything.

So, a more cost-effective method to get around the map in the meantime would be for players to increase their movement speed. There is only one method for players to do this, and this guide will show how it can be done along with how effective it is as they hunt for other resources like Iron Ore.

How To Move Faster

In order to move faster in Disney Dreamlight Valley, players will need to eat meals in-game. This does not include things like just picking an apple and eating it. Players will need to take some of the ingredients they have gathered and make one of the many meals that exist in the game. A fish sandwich would be a good example of this. By eating a meal, players will gain a buff in the lower right-hand corner of the screen called Well-Fed.

This buff increases movement speed while also filling the Energy Bar beyond the normal capacity. In order to get the buff, players will need to make sure that the meal is eaten when their Energy Bar is close to full. Doing so will allow the Energy Bar to be filled beyond the normal maximum, and players will see a yellow Energy Bar when they are Well-Fed. This method allows more energy gained from food to go into the yellow Bar as opposed to the default blue one.

How Effective Is The Movement Speed Increase?

Aside from making the running animation of Disney Dreamlight Valley players faster, the movement speed increase does provide a noticeable benefit in how quickly players can get around the Valley. As an example, going from the edge of the Plaza by the fountain to the shoreline of Dazzle Beach without increased movement speed is approximately 22 seconds. However, with the buff active, it only takes about 18 seconds. This extra speed certainly helps along with the additional energy for the Energy Bar.

Does Eating A Meal With More Stars Increase Movement Speed Further?

Unfortunately, there isn't difference in the buff when players eat a meal that has more stars. So whether it is a Ratatouille or Crudite, the buff will be the same. The only thing that changes is how much energy is restored by the meal.

When Does The Well Fed Buff Expire?

Disney Dreamlight Valley players should be aware that the buff does eventually expire. As they engage in activities that deplete Energy (like Fishing, Mining, etc), the yellow Energy Bar will gradually deplete. When blue Energy is being consumed, that means the buff is gone, and players will need to eat another meal if they want the Well-Fed buff back.

Is There A Benefit To Completely Filling The Well-Fed Energy Bar?

If players eat a bunch of meals at once to max out the Well-Fed Energy Bar, the only thing that will change is how long they will have the Well-Fed buff and the movement speed increase it provides. There are no additional Energy Bars beyond the normal blue bar and the Well-Fed yellow bar. That said, the movement speed increase provided by the buff is significant. Players looking to move faster in Disney Dreamlight Valley should head back to their house and use their stove and cook up a delicious meal.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
