Why Prime Gaming Subscribers Should Pick up Dishonored 2 for Free

Corvo Attano and Emily Kaldwin back to back in Dishonored 2

Dishonored 2 served as the second Bethesda-published game from Arkane Studios, and was the long-awaited follow-up to a popular title often cited as one of the greatest games ever made. Dishonored 2 continued the tale of its exciting universe, and while it was not on the same level as its predecessor, it still served as a worthy continuation. The main series has been put on hold as Arkane focuses its attention elsewhere, but that does not make Dishonored 2 any less worthy of a playthrough.

Dishonored 2 picks up 15 years after the first game ends, seeing Empress Emily Kaldwin get usurped by the powerful witch Delilah Copperspoon. Emily and Corvo are forced to flee to the coastal city of Karnaca, where they must do everything in their power to reclaim the throne that is rightfully theirs. They do this by imploring all sorts of supernatural powers to take out their enemies, and hopefully bring prosperity back to their world.

Players can choose to play as either Emily Kaldwin or Dishonored's original protagonist Corvo Attano, which was a major change following the first game's single option. While Arkane could have made them carbon copies of one another, the studio instead gave each character distinct powers that help incentivize players to go through the game twice.

The main gameplay loop of Dishonored 2 sees the player sneak around and dispatch their enemies from the shadows. Each character has a pistol, a crossbow, a retractable blade, grenades, mines, and supernatural powers that they can use to take out everything in their path. All of these tools and abilities can be upgraded as players progress farther, and one of the most interesting parts of Dishonored 2 is the amount of freedom that players. There are many ways to get through a mission, and players can finish the entire game without taking a life. They can use non-lethal combat moves that allow them to knock the enemy unconscious instead. This means players can portray their assassin how they want to, and it gives them a level of freedom that other games don't.

Dishonored 2 feels a lot like a steampunk version of the Hitman series, and it is a lot of fun to play. Anyone who checks the game out may spend hours sneaking around rooftops and dispatching foes. It's easy to see why the game won numerous awards, and its inclusion on Prime Gaming will hopefully create a new generation of fans.

Amazon Prime Gaming members can grab Dishonored 2 on GOG until February 1.
