Over the past year, YouTube has grown increasingly aggressive, signing a significant number of top Twitch streamers to make the leap and stream exclusively on YouTube. The latest example is Sykkuno, known for his ties to both OfflineTV and 100 Thieves, who announced this past week he's signed a contract with YouTube. But Sykkuno may be just the first of a wave of new YouTube streamers. Twitch's Disguised Toast claims to have heard that there are more announcements to come.
In a recent broadcast from Disguised Toast, he started a conversation with an admittedly dramatic topic. "Is Twitch Dying?" is the question that Disguised Toast posed to his chat. Spoilers, Disguised Toast doesn't think that Twitch is dying. He does, however, believe that more big streamers are going to make the jump to YouTube before long. In fact, Disguised Toast says that he knows of "at least" five other Twitch streamers that going over to YouTube.
Disguised Toast is well guarded when it comes to sharing any more information about who might be making the jump to YouTube, unfortunately. He doesn't mention any names, nor does he offer any hints. It could be some of Disguised Toast's friends from OfflineTV, some of his friend group from Among Us, or any other Twitch streamer, for that matter. Disguised Toast's network of contacts is pretty wide, so it's difficulty to speculate with any certainty.
That hasn't stopped the Twitch community from making guesses, however. One streamer that Twitch fans think is certain to jump to YouTube is Fuslie, due to a leaked email subject her viewers saw in 2021. Others think that a major shift to YouTube among 100 Thieves sponsored streamers could be happening over the next year, as bringing over a group is more valuable than individual streamers. Time will tell.
The reason why Disguised Toast is confident that streamers will be making the jump from Twitch to YouTube is that the contracts are likely already signed or fully planned. For example, Disguised Toast says he knew Ludwig was going to YouTube well before he actually shifted over, as they were both negotiating with YouTube at the same time. Similarly, he's known Sykkuno was leaving for some time, too.
Before anyone leaps to the assumption that Twitch streamers are leaving the platform due to some perceived unhappiness or those rumored leaked revenue share changes, Disguised Toast says there's really only one reason people are leaving -- money. YouTube is offering Twitch streamers lucrative exclusivity contracts, nothing more and nothing less.
