Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny isn't set to release until the Summer of 2021, but developer Nippon Ichi Software has given fans a special treat to hold them over. A new trailer gives a brief overview of the story before switching gears and focusing entirely on the eccentric cast of characters that players will get to know during their journey. Aside from the plot and character reveals, the English voice acting cast also amazes with fantastic line delivery throughout.

The Disgaea franchise has always been known for its over the top antics, and that doesn't seem to be changing in Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny. All in all, eight new characters were revealed, each with a title and name to go along with it. Though the trailer didn't put any particular emphasis on the voice actors involved in the project, fans can find all of that information online.

Kicking off the show, the next in line for outlandish Disgaea protagonists is Zed, a demon with a penchant for persistance. Most of his voicelines in the trailer invoke that classic "never give up" anime mentality. Zed's sister, Bieko is also an important character, and fans shouldn't let her childish facade fool them. As a companion, Cerberus the dog looks like he'll be great company, while Princess Melodia seems like she might be a bit of a handfull.

The next character is a bit of a rare one, as he's the king of the human world. His whole schtick seems to be about using wealth to bribe and intimidate his foes. Piyori Nijino is a Prism Ranger, a character type that usually isn't playable in other Disgaea titles. This obviously Power Ranger inspired heroine looks like she'll be a powerful ally. The next character introduced is Magical Girl Majolene, voiced by the same talent that brought Shantae to life. Finally, the last character shown is Ivar, a bonafide Overlord. The team looks set to take on the God of Destruction, but fans will have to wait until Summer to play.

Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny releases Summer 2021 for PS4 and Switch.
