Since Discord launched in 2015, it has become one of the biggest and most recognized chat platforms in the gaming community, edging out similar platforms like Skype and TeamSpeak. With the massive popularity of Discord, the company has been no stranger to hosting giveaways featuring consoles and Discord mechandise and even a broken Nintendo GameCube. Now, through the platform's enhanced Nitro program, Discord is offering its subscribers a plethora of new gaming experiences through a partnership with Microsoft.

Discord's popularity has spread throughout the gaming community like a wildfire and many of the biggest companies and figureheads in the industry. Gaming icons like GameStop have started their own servers for gaming fans to congregate and PlayStation even partnered with Discord to integrate the popular service with PlayStation's consoles. While Discord previously closed its own in-client marketplace, a new partnership with Microsoft and Xbox Game Pass is promising to bring the games back into the hands of the players.

The new partnership between Discord and Xbox provides users who pay for Discord's Nitro subscription access to two free months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. The partnership will provide Nitro subscribers with "100+ games across PC, mobile, and Xbox" through the subscription as well as cloud gaming. It should be noted that Microsoft accounts who had previously subscribed to Game Pass are ineligible for the two free months. Discord users who are subscribed to Nitro can claim the rewards from now through April 26, 2022.

Microsoft is offering a similar promotion for October with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, giving Game Pass subscribers three months of Discord Nitro. Recent changes to the Edge browser for Xbox even allow Xbox users to run Discord through their consoles, though it is missing some functions from the standard desktop version. The official post on Discord's Twitter also provides a brief guide to help users claim their two months of Game Pass Ultimate.

The new partnership is just the most recent of several interactions and dealings between Discord and Microsoft as the tech giant was previously in talks to purchase the chat platform for a premium price point of $10 billion. While talks of Microsoft purchasing Discord ended without a deal being reached, Xbox consoles continue to feature Discord integration and the chat platform continues to grow more popular with time. The new partnership between Discord Nitro and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate promises to provide users of both platforms with an enhanced chat experience and plenty of new games to play.
