Disco Elysium: The Final Cut hit PC and PlayStation consoles at the tail-end of last month, bringing ZA/UM's 2019 cult classic back to screens with fresh quests, fully voiced characters, and new areas to explore. Its return has been lorded as an even better version of an already revered RPG, with some outlets even awarding the game's recent souped-up edition a perfect score.

However, the launch of Disco Elysium: The Final Cut didn't go off without a hitch, with some console players reporting bugs and technical issues cropping up in the experience. Today, ZA/UM released a meaty new patch that seems to address a lot of these gripes, claiming that version 1.3 "fixes a myriad of bugs, soft locks, and interaction errors."

The team is allegedly already getting stuck into another patch slated for the future, claiming that it's "hard at work on 1.4." Although ZA/UM's description of what will be included in 1.3 on Twitter is vague, the studio did provide a much more comprehensive list of what it features last week. In a post on its website, the devs stated that fans could expect fixes for voice-overs, Kim's pathfinding, the Sandcastle interaction, the pawnshop healing interaction, cutscenes, and much more.

Back then, the team was quick to apologize for the current bugs in the game, telling fans: "we know it’s rough, we know it’s our fault, and we’re here to tell you it’s getting fixed." The frequent release of patches is more than enough proof that the devs meant every word, with version 1.2 only dropping 5 days ago and 1.4 currently in the works.

For those who didn't catch Disco Elysium's debut back in 2019, the game is a unique take on the RPG genre that focuses on skill checks and extensive dialogue trees rather than combat. During the game, players assume the role of an amnesiac detective that must investigate a case alongside his partner, Kim. The pair must navigate the bizarre city of Revachol as they attempt to solve a murder and discover more about the identity of the game's protagonist. Along the way, they get involved in the stories of the people living in the metropolis, helping them out as they complete their quest.

The game quickly became a success when it launched, with players celebrating its morbid sense of humor, dark story, and ability to transfer the fun of tabletop RPGs into the realm of video games. Following its recent leap to PlayStation consoles and Google Stadia, the devs intend to port the game to Xbox and Nintendo Switch this Summer.

Here are the Disco Elysium patch 1.3 patch notes:

  • Tons of Voice Over fixes
  • Improved Kim pathfinding
  • Fixed controller interaction during Seafort Dream
  • Fixed controller interaction with The Pigs

Disco Elysium is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Google Stadia, with Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch versions slated for this Summer.
