Jurassic Park was one of the first movies to make dinosaurs a truly terrifying presence. Following that same line of thinking, Capcom's survival horror game Dino Crisis also created a terrifying atmosphere using the prehistoric beasts. Players take on the role of Regina, a special operations agent who is tasked with discovering the secrets behind an island research facility overrun with dinosaurs. Proving to be a popular title with players, the original Dino Crisis saw two sequels follow its release in 1999.

Unfortunately, since those sequels launched, there have been no new entries in the Dino Crisis franchise, and it seems Capcom is quite happy to let the series fossilize. There were some rumblings of a Dino Crisis return when Capcom unveiled Exoprimal, a game that also features dinosaurs, but the publisher since confirmed that Exoprimal is in no way connected to Dino Crisis, disappointing fans of the PS1 classic title. One fan wasn't content with letting the franchise rest, though, as they have created a Dino Crisis remake in Unreal Engine 5.

Shown on YouTube by TeaserPlay, the Dino Crisis remake begins with a Tyrannosaurus Rex approaching Regina. Already with the sun's rays reflecting from Regina's point of view and the character models used, Dino Crisis fans can easily see the graphical upgrade that Unreal Engine 5 provides. The short trailer then shows off what appears to be a research facility, with Regina facing off against a raptor. The darkness shown off in the newly generated environment looks to be the perfect horror setting, taking Dino Crisis back to its scary roots.

As with other Unreal Engine 5 remakes trailers, there are plenty of shots showing off a graphically impressive environment before again displaying some new dinosaur models. The T-Rex and raptor models take precedence in this Dino Crisis fan-made trailer, as they feature in every environment from the jungle to the more temperate forests. This isn't the first time a fan has shown off what some of Dino Crisis could look like in Unreal Engine 5. Previously, one player showed off a new model for Regina to fit in a remake of the classic game.

Other classic titles have also been remade in Unreal Engine 5, such as an amazing take on Fallout: New Vegas and a recreation of Grand Theft Auto 3. While most of these fan creations will likely never be fully available to play, for players of Dino Crisis, it may be more likely that a fan-made next-gen experience becomes available rather than an official new entry in the franchise, given Capcom's attitude towards it.
