Last month IGN announced it will be holding an E3-like digital event called Summer of Gaming in June, one that as of this writing has 60 exhibitors listed to take part including CD Projekt Red, Xbox, Amazon and social media organizations like Twitter and Facebook. Among those exhibitors are 21 independent game developers and publishers who IGN announced today are going to be part of a three-day indie event called Guerrilla Collective.

The new event — also part of GameStop's charity effort Play For All —  is being produced by the Media Indie Exchange (MIX) and the Kinda Funny Games Showcase. Greg Miller, co-founder of Kinda Funny and a former IGN editor, will be hosting the Guerrilla Collective livestream on Twitch between June 6 and 8, 2020. The laundry list of companies that will be involved in the event include Rebellion Developments, developers of the Sniper Elite and Zombie Army series; and ZA/UM, developers of Disco Elysium, which won four awards at The Game Awards 2019.

Also involved are major indie game publishers like Humble Bundle's Humble Publishing, which recently helped release Crema's Pokemon-like MMORPG Temtem on Steam. In March the digital storefront started its own indie game showcase presentation event called The Humble Brag, following in the footsteps of other events like Nintendo Directs.

According to the press release put out by the MIX today, there will be even more involved partners for Guerrilla Collective "coming soon." After live events like the Game Developers Conference and E3 were cancelled this year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, a number of digital-only events in the same vein have been organized and announced, with one of the more high-profile examples being Geoff Keighley's four-month Summer Game Fest.

Indie games have gotten more and more love over time, likely in-part thanks to the success of indie darlings like Team Cherry's Hollow Knight or Yacht Club Games' Shovel Knight. In March Nintendo hosted an Indie World Showcase dedicated entirely to titles coming on the Switch, such as No Man's Sky developer Hello Games' The Last Campfire.

The upcoming Guerrilla Collective is being described as an "unprecedented coalition of studios, publishers, and media" that has "exciting news and reveals" for viewers. With groups like The Indie MegaBooth going on hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, it's good to see there will still be a place for indie titles to get their due.

Guerrilla Collective will be hosted over Twitch between June 6 and June 8, 2020.
