Digimon Survive features a New Game Plus mode that allows players to carry over a number of things from the original playthrough while gaining access to a number of new encounters, scenarios, and potential story events. This guide will break down the new features available in New Game Plus.

Digimon Survive is a Visual Novel/Strategy RPG developed by Hyde and published by Bandai Namco. When a group of children is hurled into another world by fate, they must struggle to survive with the aid of the monsters they meet there. The game takes a similar approach to Digimon Adventure, but with a much darker tone and a greater potential for things to go terribly wrong, requiring players to weigh their choices carefully in order to survive.

What Carries Over into New Game Plus

Digimon Survive: Where to Find All Perceived Memories

When entering New Game Plus, players keep all free Digimon that have been recruited, all items acquired, all Perceived Memories, and all unlocked evolutions for the partner Digimon. Partner Digimon must be re-unlocked for use in gameplay by reaching the point in the story where they join once again, but all Digimon, including partner Digimon, retain their levels and stats from the original playthrough.

Mugen Recollection

Mugen Recollection is a special battle encounter that is made available in New Game Plus, pitting players against large varied groups of Digimon that are noticeably more difficult than most encounters from the first playthrough. It consists of 30 increasingly difficult challenges that loop back around once cleared and can be accessed whenever the world map is accessible via the School Area. Clearing each stage of Mugen Recollection unlocks powerful items and equipment for use, and multiples of each item can be acquired by clearing Mugen Recollection multiple times.

Save the Doomed

Two characters in Digimon Survive can never survive the first playthrough of the game. These characters are Ryo and Shuuji, who will inevitably die during parts 3 and 5, respectively. During New Game Plus, however, it is possible to save Ryo by ensuring his affinity is raised to 30 before the end of part 3. This will result in Kunemon being able to get through to him and prevent his death at the hands of the fog. Doing so allows him to be present when Shuuji would normally die during part 5, and Ryo will then snap Shuuji out of his downward spiral and kickstart his development into a much better character, preventing his death in the process.

The Truthful Route

By saving Shuuji and Ryo and thus altering the timeline of the original playthrough drastically, players gain access to a fourth story route known as the "Truthful Route." This is the only route in which it is possible for everyone to survive, and also unlocks a number of new evolutions while expanding further on the lore of the game.

Digimon Survive was released on the 29th of July 2022 for PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
