With three different routes and multiple endings on offer, Digimon Survive offers players plenty of meaningful choices throughout its lengthy main story. The first choice of any real consequence comes during Part 3 of the game, with players asked to decide whether they believe Kaito or an unfamiliar woman who just happens to have shown up shortly after Miu went missing.
Fans of the Digimon anime may already recognize this woman, though even those who are new to the series should be able to tell that something isn't quite right. That said, she's able to convince several of the game's main characters of her innocence, which, together with Kaito's unnecessary aggressiveness toward her, might cause some players to think twice when asked to choose between Kaito and the unfamiliar woman in Part 3 of Digimon Survive.
Should You Choose Kaito or the Unfamiliar Woman? (Minimal Spoilers)
After speaking with everybody, players will be asked whether they believe Kaito or the unfamiliar woman. Though this choice does have a slight impact on the story in the short term, the two branching pathways created by it quickly reconverge, with no lasting damage or consequences either way. That said, if players choose Kaito, they will get a few extra consumable items and the next battle that they take part in will be a little easier. Long story short, though, it doesn't really matter who players choose to side with.
What Happens if You Choose Kaito in Part 3 of Digimon Survive? (Spoilers)
If players choose Kaito, they'll head off into the woods after him and will be joined by Haru and Miyuki. On the next screen, they'll be able to witness a few unique conversations between the two siblings and can also find a bunch of consumable items by scanning the surrounding area with their camera. They'll eventually be shown a cutscene of the rest of the group being ambushed by the unfamiliar woman, and will head on over to save them after Miyuki spots the stranded cable car off in the distance.
The resulting fight will be against Arukenimon and a bunch of Dokugumon, though players will only need to defeat the former in order to complete the battle. They'll be able to use Agumon and Dracmon during the fight as well as one other Digimon, though not any of the ones who are trapped inside the cable car. Once Arukenimon's HP has been depleted, the rest of the group will be freed and the two branching pathways will reconverge.
What Happens if You Choose the Unfamiliar Woman in Part 3 of Digimon Survive? (Spoilers)
If players choose to believe the unfamiliar woman, Kaito will again head off on his own with Haru and Miyuki in tow. This time, however, Takuma will go with the rest of the group to the cable car station, where he'll be asked a question that can impact the player's Karma. After answering, the group will head up in the cable car as before, only this time, Takuma will be trapped inside the cable car along with them.
When Kaito shows up to rescue them, the only partner Digimon that players will be able to use is Dracmon, though they'll this time have the option of bringing along two befriendable Digimon rather than just one. Depending on whether or not players have been leveling up and befriending other Digimon as they play, this may make the battle a little more challenging. Most, however, should still be able to breeze through it, especially if they downloaded the free Guilmon DLC.
