Digimon Survive will be the latest release in the Digimon franchise and it promises to take the series in a different direction from previous games. Part tactical RPG and part visual novel, the game emphasizes player choices which lead to different endings and even different Digivolutions.

Digimon Survive follows a group of students on a school camping trip as they get lost and inexplicably get transported into a strange world full of Digimon. Digimon Survive's main cast is made up of eight characters and like previous games, they get teamed up with partner Digimon to battle and develop bonds with.

Takuma Momotsuka

Takuma is the leader of the group and acts as the protagonist for Digimon Survive. An ordinary second-year middle school student, Takuma explores a mysterious temple with his friends when they find themselves transported into another world. They encounter Koromon who transforms into Agumon as they find their classmates being attacked other Digimon. Agumon becomes Takuma's partner Digimon as they explore the strange world they've ended up in.

Minoru Hinata

Minoru is close friends and in the same class as Takuma. Described as a talkative jokester that hates getting to arguments, Minoru is easygoing but can often get carried away with recklessness. His friendliness helps with keeping the group together as he can get along with anyone. In contrast, Minoru's partner Digimon is Falcomon, who has a strong and stern personality that reflects the kind of hero that Minoru wants to become.

Aoi Shibuya

Aoi is a third-year student from a different middle school than Takuma and Minoru but they end up at the same camping trip together. A quiet and reserved girl, Aoi is known for being a hard-worker. In the unknown world of Digimon Survive, she finds herself in charge of food and base management. Conversely, her partner Digimon Labramon balances Aoi's withdrawn personality by being direct and unfaltering.

Saki Kimijima

Saki is an outspoken girl known for her honesty and a natural optimist. As she always speaks her mind, she easily gets into arguments with her friends. As a result, Saki joined the extracurricular camping trip to make memories with her friends but none of them joined her. She approaches Takuma's friend group and together, get warped into the world of Digmon Survive. Saki's partner Digimon is Floramon who has a refreshing personality that complements her.

Ryou Tominaga

Ryou is a third-year student who's unable to come to terms with being stuck in another world. Although he puts on a tough guy facade, he's actually a coward in Digimon Survive. He is even afraid of his partner, Kunemon as it's a Larva-type Digimon. Kunemon doesn't seem to speak the language of humans although it can seemingly understand Ryou.

Kaito Shinonome

Kaito lives in the region where the camping trip takes place and takes care of his sister, Miu as their parents are often away. Kaito has become obsessed with protecting his sister after she's bullied and winds up on the same path as Takuma's group in an attempt to stop Miu from entering a shrine. His partner Digimon is Dracmon who helps Kaito think carefully before he acts and helps him calm down.

Miu Shinonome

Miu is Kaito's sister in Digimon Survive and has an eccentric personality as she enjoys speaking in riddles. She's annoyed by Kaito's overprotectiveness and constantly tries to get away from him. With an interest in the occult, Miu is fascinated by the new world and the dangers it presents. Her partner Digimon is Syakomon who has a realistic personality to balance Miu's eccentricity.

Shuuji Kayama

Shuuji is the oldest in the group as a first-year high school and he joins the camp as an assistant. With a serious personality, Shuuji often takes the role of a leader but this is because of his strict upbringing and belief that he must surpass everyone else. He originally joins the camp in an attempt to relieve the pressure but comes face to face with his weaknesses. His partner Digimon is Lopmon, who is the polar opposite of Shuuji with its innocent, youthful personality.

Digimon Survive is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
