Rumors have been circulating that Netflix might be playing its hand at creating yet another show for its streaming network based on another popular video game series. If the rumors are anything to go by, Blizzard fans might be hearing about a new Diablo television series in the near future.

The rumor comes from Revenge of the Fans, which claims that the Diablo series might already have a writer. Andrew Cosby - who is the writer for the upcoming Hellboy reboot - is allegedly going to be working on this adaptation of the dungeon crawler for the streaming service. While Cosby may not be well known, he has written for shows such as Eureka and Haunted in the past and is also the co-founder of Boom! Studios.

Even though all we know is that the series might be in the works and has a writer, not much else can be said about the potential series. Of course, this only leads to speculation as to what the series might be like and whether or not it will be live-action or animated. Considering the buzz surrounding Blizzard’s recent announcement of Diablo III: Eternal Collection on the Nintendo Switch and with BlizzCon running from November 2nd to November 4th, this rumor will likely be confirmed or squashed by then.

Last year, Netflix released its own adaptation of the Castlevania series spanning four episodes. An eight episode second season was picked up and is planned to release October 26, 2018. Hopefully, with the success of this anime series and if the rumors turn out to be true about Diablo, gamers will receive more original programming dedicated to other video game series.

Ever since Netflix started offering its own line of original broadcasting back in 2012, the company has become a juggernaut in the movie and television streaming business. The company has taken greater chances over the years expanding to different genres of entertainment and more niche demographics. If these running series and rumored ones alike find a healthy fanbase, gamers could see much more Netflix gaming content like this in the future.

Diablo III is currently available for PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and will be released for Nintendo Switch this coming Fall.
