Considered one of the most powerful mages in Sanctuary, Zoltun Kulle is a prominent figure in Diablo lore. Known for his founding of the Horadrim and the relics he left behind, players who want to access incredible power would always find it worthwhile to find some of Kulle’s artifacts - if they live to use them, that is. In Diablo Immortal, one such artifact is the Portal Tome, containing some lost pages of Kulle’s notes.

Should players complete the Tome, they access a portal to another dimension containing one of two powerful beasts. One such behemoth in the Diablo title is the Sandstone Golem, considered a World Boss due to its sheer size and power. Diablo Immortal players who get to locate and defeat the Sandstone Golem may acquire incredibly-powerful loot in the game.

The Library Of Zoltun Kulle

The-Library-of-Zoltun-Kulle-1

The main location through which players can access the Sandstone Golem is the Library of Zoltun Kulle, who was hailed as the most powerful mage in Sanctuary during his life. This place as a repository of Kulle’s knowledge. The Curator, a simulacrum of Zoltun Kulle, serves as the Library’s guardian.

Players who get to explore the Library at Levels 35 to 41 can collect various tomes that, when combined, forms a portal to a special Zone. These Zones are random, and give players access to mini-boss fights with various enemies from the game series, making these optimal to improve and test unique builds such as the Cyclone Strike Monk.

Kulle’s Hidden Chambers

Kulle's Hidden Chambers

By the time players unlock Hell 1, after completing the story and getting their character to Level 60, character, they can unlock Kulle’s Hidden Chambers. This quest will allow players access to the location where the Sandstone Golem is located. Similar to general quests in th Library, the Hidden Chambers will ask players to collect various Lost Tomes scattered across the Library.

These Lost Pages don’t have set locations, however, and players need to explore the Library in order to successfully obtain them. The monsters encountered here are perfect for grinding broken Diablo Immortal builds. While players can technically finish the quest after making one Portal Tome, they can theoretically continue collecting more Lost Pages. They can make up to four more Portal Tomes, which they can create by collecting 20 more Lost Pages in excess.

Completing this quest and obtaining the five Lost Pages will give players access to a special Portal Tome. Through this, they can access a special zone that has one of two bosses: the Fleshcraft Hydra, or the Sandstone Golem. Players who managed to store extra Portal Tomes can repeatedly open them and kill these World Bosses, up to five times a day. However, doing this in excess will no longer give players rewards from killing these bosses.

Activate The Portal With A Party

A party preparing to fight the Sandstone Golem

Before fighting the Sandstone Golem in itself, players should activate the special Portal Tome with a complete party. This boosts the chances of players triggering a World Boss Event. Given the strength of the Sandstone Golem, it may also be practical to do this battle with a full party, as fighting this solo can become a mistake for Diablo Immortal players.

Should players trigger a World Boss Event, the game will notify them which of the two bosses will appear. If they managed to spawn a Sandstone Golem, the boss is located on the northeast part of the map, just above the Hidden Alcove. Knowing this location is crucial, as the game only gives players three minutes to reach the boss area.

Enter The Sandstone Golem

Fighting the Sandstone Golem

Being a World Boss, the Sandstone Golem is a hulking mass of a creature. Seemingly created out of frozen sand, the Sandstone Golem is a dominating presence in the battlefield, especially when summoned. However, like other generic bosses in the game, the Sandstone Golem doesn’t pose much of a threat if players know exactly how to fight it properly, similar to farmable bosses during the Diablo 3 grind. In that regard, players should pay attention to the following traits:

  • Huge HP: The Sandstone Golem will likely possess 20.25M HP, making it a rather tough opponent to tear through. While it has basic attacks, the fight with the Sandstone Golem basically becomes a battle of attrition if players don’t have enough damaging skills.
  • AOE Slam Attack: The Sandstone Golem possesses a shockwave slam attack that hits players around it. Unless players are attacking from long-range, this slam attack is unavoidable at close range.
  • Knocking Dash: The second attack in the Sandstone Golem’s arsenal is a dash move. This sends the Golem forward to a direction of its choosing, all the while damaging and knocking everyone on its path to the side.
  • Ranged Slam Attack: The third attack in the Golem’s repertoire is a debris slam attack, where the Golem puts its fists on the ground and a massive chunk of rock will make its way to a designated area. Players who stay in the marked areas will take considerable damage.

Killing The Sandstone Golem

Stats of the Sandstone Golem

As the Sandstone Golem is a World Boss, it’s safe to assume that players don’t necessarily have the means to defeat it alone. However, it doesn’t mean that they cannot defeat the Sandstone Golem at all. Players can rely on special methods to organize teams in order to make the most out of their boss fight with the Sandstone Golem.

  • Wait for multiple players first: Since the Sandstone Golem is a World Boss, it’s always likely that a huge number of players will be pursuing this objective. To ensure maximum security, players are advised to at least have a full party before fighting the Golem, and never to engage it unless they have enough numbers.
  • Save Health Potions: Since the Sandstone Golem has a ton of HP, it’s likely that players won’t get to defeat it within a few minutes. It’s likelier for the Golem to whittle the party’s HP throughout combat. Players should use their Health Potions sparingly, and instead rely on Health Globes that may appear throughout the fight.
  • Avoid close range if possible: Since the AOE slam of the Golem is unblockable, it’s not advisable to remain close to the Golem unless players can confidently mitigate damage.
  • Get dodging: In addition to the AOE slam attack, much of the Golem’s other attacks are well within range of a player’s dodging capabilities. Players should take note of attack cues from the Golem, so they know to dodge its dash attack and its long range debris throw.

Reward: Guilt Of The Nameless

Guilty of the Nameless

By defeating the Sandstone Golem, players can obtain a reward known as the Guilt of the Nameless. This is actually one of the items that makes the Sandstone Golem quite a worthy farming endeavor, as the Guilt of the Nameless is a beneficial buff to players who want to last in Diablo Immortal’s endgame, similar to when hunting for Legendary Gems.

When giving this item to Iben Fahd’s Sanctum, players can obtain permanent Resistance buffs that are often randomized. Despite this random nature, permanent Resistance boosts can greatly help players aiming to beat Immortal’s hardest difficulties, where status effects are often the norm among enemy attacks.

Diablo Immortal is available for iOS, Android, and PC.
