Diablo Immortal was originally announced at BlizzCon 2018 to a lackluster response, but more fans will be able to try out the Diablo mobile game today. Some Diablo fans have already been exploring Immortal through a technical alpha phase, and now the title is now entering closed alpha.
Diablo Immortal's technical alpha took place back in December for iOS and Android devices, but today, Australian fans of Diablo can try the new mobile game on select Android devices only. This closed alpha includes the new Crusader class, new zones and dungeons, Battleground, Helliquary, essence transfer vendor, and the base content included in the technical alpha.
Android users in Australia will need a device with a Snapdragon CPU 670 / Exynos 8895 or higher, Adreno 615 GPU/Mali-G71 MP20 or higher, 2GB of RAM or higher, and Android Version OS 5.0 or higher in order to qualify for the Diablo Immortal closed alpha.
Australian Blizzard Entertainment fans will be able to play as the Barbarian, Demon Hunter, Monk, Wizard, Crusader, and Necromancer in the closed Diablo Immortal alpha, and they can compete head-to-head in faction-based PVP. When exploring the world, players will encounter a new area in the heart of the Tamoe mountains, known as Mount Zavain. Further north from Mount Zavain is the Frozen Tundra, which is where the Lord of Destruction Baal resides.
Diablo Immortal players can opt into an 8-vs-8 PVP contest known as the Battleground by speaking to the Battleground Captain in the Immortal Overlook. Attackers will escort Zealous Idols to destroy the Ancient Heart while slaying enemy combatants who are defending objectives. Defenders can win matches by defeating the attackers enough times or by running out the clock, while attackers just have to push.
The Helliquary is a device in Diablo Immortal that allows players to convert trapped demons into power that can be wielded on the battlefield. This device is unlocked after completing the main quest in Bilefen and it rewards Challenge Rift buffs which makes the end-game content a little less intimidating.
Transferring essences in Diablo Immortal is as simple as visiting a character known as Zamina in the city of Westmarch. This is where players will be able to customize their legendary gear by extracting the essence out of other pieces of legendary equipment. This will replace the Legendary gear's name, icon, property, 3D model, and text with those from the collected Essence.
While it may not have been announced to a warm reception, Diablo Immortal may find a community of fans as it enters its closed alpha phase in select regions.
