The release of Diablo Immortal is imminent as Blizzard Entertainment has recently begun accepting pre-registrations from iOS users. Previously, all the alpha and beta tests were only available for Android users, so it's a good sign that iOS users are starting to get involved in. The App Store listing even suggested that Diablo Immortal will be released on June 30th, though Blizzard says that's just a placeholder date. It has also disclosed that players can change classes without losing any progress.

As an MMORPG and a Diablo game, character classes will obviously play a big part in Diablo Immortal. So far, Blizzard has said that there will be six playable classes in Diablo Immortal — Barbarian, Wizard, Monk, Necromancer, Demon Hunter, and Crusader — although there is always the potential for Blizzard to expand on that roster post-launch, even adding a brand new class that has never been featured on previous games in the series. The good news is, Blizzard wants to make it easier for players to experience every class available.

Through a blog post, Blizzard outlined a new feature made specifically for Diablo Immortal called Class Change. The idea is fairly simple: players may change their existing character class to a new class, all while retaining every progress they have ever made for that character, including progress on Paragon levels. When players change their character class, they will receive a new set of equipped items appropriate to the new class, and they can transfer all of their item progress and gems to them. Players also don't need to worry about losing all their old equipped items or stash when they do this.

From there, players will need to start collecting Legendary items specific to the new class, and Blizzard was quick to point out that this has always been part of the fun in playing a Diablo game. If, however, players regret the choice, they can always activate the Class Change feature again to return their character to its original class, or maybe explore other new classes they haven't tried yet.

With this new feature, Blizzard explained that the intention is to keep players away from the hard choice of giving up progress on their main character in order to support an alt. Yet at the same time, Blizzard also wants players' original class selection to be a meaningful choice, and not something they change session by session. That's why Blizzard is also planning to limit the system in such a way that can still give players freedom to try out new classes as new content comes.

So far Blizzard has shown a lot of effort in perfecting the gameplay of Diablo Immortal, and it's nice to see that the developer is also shakng it up to be more customizable and accessible than other games in the series. If done right, the Class Change feature can be a welcome addition to the game. Thankfully, Blizzard is taking its time in implementing the feature, which is planned to be added via a patch shortly after the game launches.
