With a weapon in one hand and a shield in the other, the Crusader holds the line in Diablo Immortal. Other classes can tank well enough, but Barbarians and Monks are usually off running around. The Crusader has some mobility too, but combines that with punishing anyone that gets too close.

Gamers will need to decide what vision they have for the Crusader before getting to the endgame of Diablo Immortal. Is this going to be a PvP powerhouse, disabling enemies and locking them down? Or is this going to be a rift master, taking out mobs of enemies with holy light? Regardless of the build, these are the weapons most worthy of consideration.

8 Zaynula's Last Hymn - PvP - Off-Hand

  • Consecration also slows enemy movement by 30%.

When a player suddenly starts to lose speed in a large area, they will probably blame the PvP cheaters infecting the battlegrounds. In reality, the Crusader can pull off this move with Zaynula's Last Hymn. Keep in mind this does not replace the damage element of Consecration, it simply adds to it.

Most classes can't use area abilities in PvP since enemies can just run out of them, but the Crusader and enough push, pull, and drag options that this area can take an eternity to escape. Catch a whole enemy team in it and any allied ranged attackers will be going to town.

7 Bonebearer - PvE - Off-Hand

  • Shield Glare now consumes energy to reflect a beam of light that continually damages enemies in a direction, but no longer Blinds enemies.

Crusaders in the thick of leveling up will be familiar with the process of using auto-navigation to get to some elite mobs, attacking the mobs, then auto-attacking until the cooldowns get back up. That auto-attack time period feels like it could be better spent.

With the Bonebearer, it is much better spent channeling damage into a group. The damage no longer blinds, but this is hardly an issue in PvE where the threatening enemies are immune to such debuffs anyhow.

6 Constant Scrutiny - PvP - Off-Hand

  • Shield Glare now Blinds and damages all enemies around you.

Part of using a class with high expectations, such as the Crusader, is mastering each aspect of the character's role. It's hard enough to manage the timing and usage of each skill, trying to aim a skill like Shield Glare in the middle of PvP combat is next to impossible.

Constant Scrutiny turns this vector into a single-click cast that hits everything around the character, not just the cone in front. The Crusader isn't the easiest class to play, but it's certainly made much more fluid with this legendary shield.

5 Pavise Of Ten Wings - PvE - Off-Hand

  • Spinning Shield now spirals around you and does not return.

Players who remember the Paladin from Diablo 2 have got to be pumped about the Pavise of Ten Wings in Diablo Immortal. The "Hammerdin" build nearly broke the game, tossing hammers around itself and becoming the undisputed best build for the class.

Change the hammer to a shield and it's just as amazing in this latest installment. Gamers who use it will hope that while the development team is fixing up all the problems with Diablo Immortal, they leave this powerful shield alone.

4 Proof From On High - PvP - Main Hand

  • Falling Sword now chains enemies to a location, and pulls them to you when activated again.

At the max-level cap, the Crusader's Falling Sword becomes the prime way to teleport quickly. There are other ways, like Draw and Quarter, to move around, but nothing beats instantaneous travel. Falling Sword doesn't have to just be for mobility, it can be turned into a severe disable.

Actually, make that two disables. Aside from chaining the hit opponent in place for a bit, activating the move a second time will pull the enemy toward the Crusader. Both of these moves can kill even a well-equipped player if the team is around.

3 Karawan's Catch - PvE - Main Hand

  • Sweep Attack now consumes energy to continually damage all nearby enemies while you move.

Ever gets jealous of the Barbarian's swiftness in rifts? Taking out groups of enemies with a Whirlwind is a great move from trimming down rift times and is also a great way to level up fast. The Crusader doesn't have to be left in the dark, though, with the Karawan's Catch.

Operating on energy instead of a single cooldown, the Crusader's swings hit all around, perfect for a character that finds itself frequently surrounded by foes.

2 Little Lance - PvP - Main Hand

  • Falling Sword instead causes you to surge forward with your sword up to three times, damaging all enemies in your path.

The Crusader resides atop the class tier chart for a good reason; it excels at anything the class decides to do. It's even pretty mobile and sneaky for a character that dons heavy armor. How about getting three charges on Falling Sword instead of one?

The Little Lance feels just that powerful and gets the additional effect of damaging anybody caught in between the points on the path. Useful for escaping bad situations or getting targets into a bad situation themselves, this is a highly-sought item on the market.

1 Air Splitter - PvE - Main Hand

Diablo Immortal Long Range While Tossing A Shield
  • Falling Sword instead unleashes a shock wave that can be charged up to increase range and damage.

There is a moderate damage amount dealt by Falling Sword, but it's nothing excessive. Enemy mobs will get a few hits off on the Crusader after the landing and before it can dispatch them with other skills. Wouldn't it be nice if this first hit was large enough to destroy minions in just a few seconds?

The Air Splitter makes it possible. Some players will take too much damage in rifts and consider adjusting the difficulty. But with this weapon, enemies don't live long enough to wear the Crusader down. By the final boss, the class will still be topped off on health and ready for a brawl.

Diablo Immortal is available now for mobile and PC.
