Blizzard Entertainment has unveiled that it's releasing an official Diablo cookbook. With Diablo 4 coming out soon, the book seems to be an unconventional piece of merch that longtime fans of the franchise can get their hands on.

First released in 1996, Diablo is a dark fantasy RPG set in the fictional world called Sanctuary. Players can choose from various classes, such as Barbarian, Sorceress, and Necromancer, among others, who they control to battle demons and monsters until they face off against the main antagonist, Diablo. The franchise has three main games so far—all of which have expansion packs—along with a live service game called Diablo Immortal, which is said to take place in between the events of the second and third games. The upcoming fourth installment is set to release on June 6th, but there are rumors that Diablo 4 might get pushed back to a later date.

While waiting for the next game's launch, Blizzard revealed Diablo: The Official Cookbook by Insight Editions, a publisher known for other cookbooks inspired by God of War, World of Warcraft, and more. According to Simon & Schuster's website, the cookbook will come out on October 24, 2023, and will retail for $34.99. It will have over 60 food and drink recipes in the span of 192 pages that are based on Diablo locations, such as Tristram and Mount Arreat.

In the past, there have been Diablo fans on Reddit who discussed the possibility of Blizzard developing a Diablo cookbook, and the types of recipes people can find in it. Many said that they would like to learn how to make savory meat dishes, like a turkey leg version of Wirt's Leg from Diablo 2. While the cookbook's description didn't mention the specific dishes and drinks that readers can find, it did hint that it will have recipes that perfect for solo dining and full-on dinner parties. So, Diablo fans might see different drinks based on the health and mana potions, and perhaps even meals named after the seven Great Evils.

Diablo already has a longstanding legacy, which includes a roster of iconic characters that has stuck with many players who have invested hours into the games. In Diablo 4, players will further explore the story of Lilith, daughter of Mephisto, as she returns to the mortal realm after a long banishment, bringing with her darkness and despair. It will be interesting to see how this antagonist's story will unfold down the line, and how players will figure out how to beat her.
