The first location Diablo 4 players will find themselves in is the Fractured Peaks, and there's quite a bit to do there. One of the many quests available in this beginner area is the quest of the Secret of the Springs, and some players may have trouble solving this strange little side quest and nabbing its hidden treasure.
Updated June 2, 2023, by Mina Smith: Diablo 4's beta period has ended, and the full game is now available for players worldwide. The Secret of the Springs quest that was available in the beta is still in the launch version, so this guide will show players how to figure out its riddle and complete it for a reward.
Getting the Secret of the Springs Quest in Diablo 4
Near the Kylslik Plateau's Forsaken Quarry, players can find a Discarded Note on a cliff area. This note is how players will start the Diablo 4 quest called the Secret of the Springs. Just interact with the note on the ground, and the quest will begin automatically.
The note reads, "Beacon of warmth in winter's embrace, patience rewarded by nature's own grace." After players read it, press the map button. There will gain a new little blue circle where the hot spring, or the "beacon of warmth" in the middle of a blizzard, is located in Diablo 4.
Completing Secret of the Springs in Diablo 4
Once players have found the spring, they may wonder what they must do to get the treasure and complete the quest. As it says in the discarded note, players must be patient. In other words, players must click an emote, similar to the Faded Plaques in Diablo 4. Specifically, the Wait Emote.
If the wait emote isn't in the emote wheel, players can hit the "customize" button to add it to their wheel. The button to access the emote wheel in Diablo 4 is either E on PC or the up button on the d-pad on either the PlayStation 4 or 5 and any Xbox.
Patience is rewarded in this particular part of Diablo 4; a buried treasure chest will appear just to the north of the water, and players will complete the quest. This will earn gamers some XP to help Diablo 4 players level up and a handful of gold.
The contents of the treasure chest are randomized; while the loot is mostly likely to be better than the world chests out there, there's no guarantee of getting anything specific. However, even just the XP makes it worth completing, getting players closer to the level cap.
