Diablo 4 just showed off an incredible new live-action trailer made in collaboration with a famous Marvel director. This awesome trailer features some of Diablo 4’s classes in action in a way that has never been seen before.

Chloé Zhao is an award-winning Chinese movie writer, producer, and director who rose to prominence after her first feature film, Songs My Brothers Taught Me, released in 2015. She is most contemporarily known for her role as the co-writer and director of Eternals, the 26th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe released in 2021.

Now, Zhao has teamed up with Blizzard to make a live-action trailer for Diablo 4. Though only a minute long, this commercial blazes through each of the five playable classes in Diablo 4, showcasing some of their most iconic spells and abilities in a new light. All throughout, the innocent citizens of Sanctuary plead with the viewer to save them while demons swarm about, threatening to plunge the world into chaos. The trailer ends with a stunning image of Lilith, who looks as if she had stepped straight out of the game itself.

Interestingly enough, this is not the first time Diablo and Marvel have crossed paths. Last September, Diablo 2 Resurrected got a live-action trailer featuring Simu Liu, the star of Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The grim commercial cast Liu as a stand-in for the protagonist of Diablo 2, and did an excellent job of teasing the remake’s release.

Many fans of Diablo 4 were understandably floored by the game’s newest trailer. Few expected to see a glimpse of Diablo 4 in live-action, and fewer still suspected an award-winning director like Zhao would be involved. Players couldn't decide which of the classes had the coolest cameo in the trailer, but most agreed that a full-length Diablo movie or TV series in this style would be incredible.

With its announcement back in 2019, many fans find it hard to believe Diablo 4 is almost out, but its release is imminent. Early access begins June 2, with the full launch coming four days after. Diablo 4 has dropped several trailers teasing cinematics and battles to be found in game leading up to its launch, and crossover events in Diablo Immortal and World of Warcraft are now live. Players won’t have to wait long to dive into Diablo 4, but luckily, they have plenty of things to do in the last days before it comes out.

Diablo 4 launches on June 6 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
