The wait for Diablo 4 is finally coming to an end as the full game releases on June 6, 2023, and players are eagerly preparing for their battle against the horrors of the Burning Hells. In the meantime, Blizzard has announced two betas this March for players that want to test their mettle. The betas will be relatively short, so everyone is searching for ways to get the most out of their time.

With all the excitement, there has been some confusion involving the details of the Diablo 4 beta. Here are answers to some of the burning questions on many players’ minds.

What Time Will the Diablo 4 Beta Start?

There are two beta periods, both of which land on a weekend:

  • The Early Access Beta starts Friday, March 17th at 9 AM PDT and ends Monday, March 20th at 12 PM PDT.
  • The Open Beta starts Friday, March 24th at 9 AM PDT and ends Monday, March 27th at 12 PM PDT.

Anyone can play in the Open Beta, whether they’ve pre-purchased the game or not. The Early Access Beta is only open to players that got in by going through an approval process, pre-purchasing the game, or taking part in a KFC promotion.

When Can the Diablo 4 Beta be Preloaded?

Preloading is already underway for the Early Access Beta. It began on March 15th at 9 AM PDT. Preloading for the Open Beta begins March 22nd at 9 AM PDT. Players that already preloaded the Early Access Beta will not have to download it again for the Open Beta.

Does the Diablo 4 Beta Have Cross-play?

Yes, the Diablo 4 beta will support cross-play and cross-progression. Players will be able to join each other’s games regardless of platform, and they can progress their characters on any platform.

Will Progress Carry Over from the Diablo 4 Beta?

Progress made in the Early Access Beta will carry over into the Open Beta. However, progress made during the betas won’t carry over into the full launch of Diablo 4 in June. Everyone will start with a clean slate.

What’s the Max Party Size in the Diablo 4 Beta?

The Diablo 4 beta will allow console players to play up to four-player multiplayer through online co-op. Every player must own a copy of the game unless they’re joining via couch co-op with someone else that owns the game. Couch co-op is limited to two players.

Will Diablo 4 be Coming to Game Pass?

There has been some speculation that Diablo 4 (and, therefore, the beta) might become available on Game Pass. Unfortunately, it will not. Xbox might be gearing up to buy Activision Blizzard, but there are no plans to bring Diablo 4 to Game Pass yet.

Which Classes are Playable in the Diablo 4 Beta?

Not every class will be available in both betas. During the Early Access Beta, only the Rogue, Sorcerer, and Barbarian will be playable. However, by the time the Open Beta comes around, the Necromancer and Druid will have made their way to the campfire.

What’s the Max Level Players Can Reach in the Diablo 4 Beta?

The level cap for the Diablo 4 beta is 25. Players are free to continue exploring the Fractured Peaks after they reach the level cap; they simply won’t accrue any more XP.

How Much of the Story Will be in the Diablo 4 Beta?

The Diablo 4 beta will allow players to play through the entirety of Act 1. There will be a large open-world area called Fractured Peaks, dungeons, world events, and a scheduled World Boss fight.
