Earlier this month, Blizzard finally dropped the hammer and revealed that Diablo 4 is officially in development. The announcement was made during this year's BlizzCon event that also revealed a new gameplay trailer for fans to sink their teeth into. However, several details about the upcoming game have since come to light, and it is now revealed that Diablo 4 has a major catch.

During a panel held at BlizzCon 2019, lead designer Angela Del Priore confirmed that Diablo 4 won't support "a full offline mode." Essentially, this means that players would be required to have a constant access to the internet in order to play the game. Of course, this doesn't come as a surprise to Diablo players on the PC, given that Diablo 3 also required an internet connection to launch. This is also true for most of Blizzard's major franchises including World of Warcraft, StarCraft, and Overwatch.

The only group of players that may be affected by Diablo 4's lack of an offline mode are those playing on consoles, especially since Diablo 3 included the ability to play offline for those versions. In a statement released to GameSpot, Blizzard confirmed that Diablo 4 will only support online play across all platforms, including the PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Blizzard also revealed that Diablo 4 will contain five different classes. So far, the developer has only revealed the first three classes, which will see the return of the Barbarian, Sorceress, and Druid classes in the game. Each class is set to bring a wide variation of skills and abilities that will offer multiple ways to experience Diablo 4.

However, it appears that the Druid class almost didn't make it in the Diablo 4, as revealed by game director Luis Barriga during a panel at BlizzCon 2019. Barriga explained that during the brainstorming of which classes to include in the game, the Druid wasn't initially included in the discussions. However, upon seeing a concept art from an unnamed artist, the development team quickly changed their minds and decided to include Druid in Diablo 4.

Diablo 4 is in development for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
