Diablo 3 has come a long way since its initial release on PC back in 2012, its forthcoming release on the portable Nintendo Switch marking the series' entry into the portable market. And if a listing on Target.com is to be believed, players could be hacking and slashing through dungeons on-the-go sooner than they might have expected.

Target's online product listing for Diablo 3: Eternal Collection on Switch has it releasing on December 20th. The multiplatform Diablo 3 bundle was only just announced about three weeks ago, making rumors of its imminent release that much more surprising.

Adding credibility to the rumors, which have ignited on Reddit since Nintendo Life reported on the potential release date, it appears Target has responded to reports by updating the release date. When Nintendo Life broke the scoop last night, the product listing showed a November 2 release date, coincidentally the first day of BlizzCon 2018. Since then, however, Target has edited the page, which now shows the December 20 release date.

Numerous reports of Diablo 3 making its way to Nintendo Switch were recently confirmed when Blizzard announced Diablo 3: Eternal Collection, which will give players the most current version of the game as well as all DLC available at the time of release. Reportedly, the Nintendo Switch version will come with console-exclusive Zelda-themed items like a Ganondorf armor set, a Tri-Force portrait frame, a cucco pet, and more.

Blizzard has said that Diablo 3 on Switch will run at 60 frames per second, docked and undocked, with resolution dropping from 960p docked to 720p in handheld mode. The title's smooth performance, seen in action on the announcement trailer for Nintendo Switch, comes as reassuring news for those skeptical of the lightweight, portable Switch's performance capability. On the other hand, it should be expected of any modern console to be able to handle a six-year-old game without trouble.

Diablo 3: Eternal Collection does not yet have an official release date.
