Now that The Rise of the Necromancer DLC is available for Diablo 3, gamers are furiously working to level up their characters in order to enjoy the end game activities available with the expansion. With that in mind, many players are looking for the best and easiest way to powerlevel their Diablo 3 characters.

To aid those players looking to powerlevel their characters in Diablo 3’s Rise of the Necromancer, Game Rant put together the below guide for both new and seasoned players.

Join a Community

One of the most efficient ways to powerlevel a character in Diablo 3 is to join a community focused on powerleveling. This is a good method for players who aren’t familiar with the best ways to level a character or who are new to Diablo 3’s system.

Fortunately, Diablo 3 makes it easy to both find and join these communities. Players simply need to click on the community button in the bottom right hand side of the screen (the one with the two people figures), select “Find," and enter “Powerlevel” in the text box. This will open up the many powerleveling communities, many of which players can freely join.

Once players are a member of the community, they simply need to request help with powerleveling, and it shouldn’t be long before they're on their way.

Solo Powerleveling

For those Diablo 3 players who prefer the purist route and want to handle the powerleveling on their own, here’s a bit more detail for how to powerlevel a character. Following these steps will give players the best chance at leveling up quickly, and opening the door to find and retrieve the best gear available in the game.

We will quickly note that right now is a stellar time to do the Necromancer powerleveling in Diablo 3, since the game is offering double XP this coming weekend. With the aid of double XP, and a little guidance, players can powerlevel a character in no time and enjoy the various end game activities.

Where to Start

When it comes to powerleveling, Diablo 3 players will obviously be hunting for every extra bit of experience they can find. That means players need to go into the game knowing what to look for and planning their activities wisely.

To start, it’s important to consider what to do with Paragon points. Since higher level activities will produce better XP, we recommend a good mix of point placement that offer enough health and life on hit to keep players alive during battle.

From there, players can head into the Nephilim Rifts, where there are plenty of enemies ready to die in the name of XP, plus a healthy dose of XP at the end. While some players may recommend the slow grindfest activities of killing the same few enemies over and over, that method is not fun. Doing the rifts will give high XP. Plus, it will be fun in the process.

As players make their way through the rifts, they should be on constant lookout for a helmet with a socket. Once players have one, they should put their highest level ruby in it to enhance their XP. Even the most mundane rubies can offer 35 percent or higher additional XP.

Maxing Out XP Gain

As mentioned above, the goal with powerleveling is to get as much XP as possible as fast as possible. This means players will skip other skills or abilities in favor of XP, and that’s okay. Once players max out their character, they will be able to refocus their efforts on acquiring the best gear in the game.

Players can also keep in mind the various skills and passives that make for the best Necromancer build in Diablo 3. Some of these will help players powerlevel, while others should be put on hold until players have finished leveling up their character.

When selecting Kanai’s Cube bonuses, players should focus most on Leoric’s Crown. This will give players a double bonus for the XP gem they put in their helmet earlier, bumping it up to 70 to 80 percent XP bonus gain. Since players will be doing higher level rifts in order to get as much XP as possible, it’s recommended that players also shoot for The Furnace for additional elite damage, and Countess Julia’s Cameo to increase attack speed.

Move Quickly

When choosing a difficulty for rifts, pick a level that’s somewhat challenging but not overwhelming. Remember, the goal is to get as much XP as possible as quickly as possible. Going too difficult may slow down progress, while going too easy won’t provide max XP with each run. We recommend starting around Expert, and moving up from there as needed.

As players progress through the rifts, they should only pick up rares and legendaries, and only use legendary items when possible. Since players will be leveling quickly, it doesn’t make sense to spend time picking up and sorting through any gear or weapons at lower levels than this.

Enjoy the End Game

Once players have powerleveled their Necromancer character, they can turn their attention to the various end game activities, or even run through again to powerlevel another character. Players have been able to powerlevel to max level in as little as four hours, and with double XP weekend starting tomorrow, players shouldn’t have any trouble doing it in just two or three hours.

Diablo 3 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
