Blizzard is known for the high quality of every product that it releases. Always maintaining a "we'll release it when it's ready" policy has meant that fans sometimes have to wait for what feels like ages to play the latest Blizzard game. So with Diablo 3 entering the home stretch of development, it could be possible that gamers will get a chance to play the long delayed title this year.

The truth is that it might not be in the way we all want to. With no release date, month, or even year committed to by Blizzard, it could still be 2012 before we see the official release of the game. Diablo 3 fans need not be completely disheartened, though. Blizzard is also known for beta testing all of their products in order to get as much feedback as possible before release in order to ensure a perfect product.

When will the Diablo 3 beta be? We're not sure, but all signs point to Blizzard revealing that bit of information tomorrow during the Blizzard First Quarter 2011 Financial Results conference call. During the Blizzard Q4 2010 conference call on February 9, 2011, Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime didn't say much about Diablo 3, but did hint that during the next conference call he would reveal details regarding the upcoming beta for the game.

Here's the relevant excerpt from the last conference call.

"As for Diablo 3, development continues to go well, and we’re very excited about the game. Our most recent public showcase for Diablo 3 was at the G-Star show in Korea, where demo stations attracted huge lines of players. I’m looking forward to sharing some more news about the game and our upcoming beta on the next call."

If Morhaime is true to his word, and he has been in the past, that would mean that we'll have details on the Diablo 3 beta tomorrow afternoon just after the conference call. The conference call is officially scheduled for Monday at 1:30pm PDT / 4:30pm EST.

The last time Morhaime made this kind of announcement was when he announced the StarCraft II beta during the Blizzard Q4 2009 conference call, and the beta began a mere week after. If the past is any indication, this could mean that a Diablo 3 beta is in store for fans of the series very soon, possibly as early as next week.

Are you going to be taking part in the Diablo 3 beta when registration finally opens?

Diablo 3 is officially announced for release on the PC and Mac, but Blizzard has also stated that it's very interested in looking into a console release for their next big title.
