Diablo 2: Resurrected is launching next week, bringing the classic hack-and-slash experience to every major modern gaming platform, including the Nintendo Switch. The Diablo 2: Resurrected pre-release marketing hasn't focused a ton on the Nintendo Swtich version, leading to some concern about how the game may turn out compared to its counterparts on other platforms. However, Blizzard and Vicarious Visions seem confident that the Switch version of Diablo 2: Resurrected is performing well.

In an interview with GamesBeat, Blizzard said that the Nintendo Switch version of Diablo 2: Resurrected is "running like butter." Some tweaks have been made to accommodate for the Nintendo Switch version when fans are playing it in handheld mode as opposed to dock mode, with adjustments made to text and the general layout due to the smaller screen. Blizzard believes these adjustments will help it "play up" the strengths of the Nintendo Switch console.

"The Switch version is very good," Blizzard said to GamesBeat, though there hasn't been a ton of Diablo 2 Switch gameplay for fans to go off so far. And with the game's release date right around the corner, it seems the focus is going to remain on the PC, PlayStation, and Xbox versions of the game. Barring any unforeseen technical issues, though, it seems like a safe bet that fans can count on the Nintendo Switch version of Diablo 2: Resurrected to be a comparable experience, even if it's not going to have the fancier graphics found in next-gen Diablo 2.

While the Nintendo Switch version of Diablo 2: Resurrected should be fairly comparable to the other versions of the game, there will be at least one notable limitation. Whereas most versions of Diablo 2: Resurrected will let eight people play at a time in a single game, Diablo 2 on Switch has a more restrictive multiplayer cap. Diablo 2: Resurrected on Switch only allows for four players in multiplayer, which could be a serious drawback for some.

Diehard Diablo 2: Resurrected fans may still want to consider picking up the Switch version, though, as it will allow them to take the game on the go. To that end, Diablo 2's cross-progression means someone could primarily play on PC or console, and then take the Switch version with them on trips or whatever so they can continue looting to their hearts' content.

In any case, Nintendo Switch owners will find out how the Diablo 2 Switch version stacks up when it launches next week.

Diablo 2: Resurrected launches September 23 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
