Diablo 2: Resurrected is releasing in just under a month, and fans of the action RPG series are eagerly waiting to dive back into the classic title. At the time of its original release, Diablo 2 redefined what the genre could be, and still has tangible influences on the industry today. Now, Diablo 2: Resurrected is bringing the classic up to more modern standards so that fans new and old can slay some more demons the old-fashioned way.

There are seven classes in Diablo 2: Resurrected for players to choose. Each of the classes features a unique playstyle with its own possible builds built from three unique skill trees. This can make choosing which class to start with a daunting task without doing some research before jumping into Diablo 2: Resurrected. For players who are interested in playing a Sorceress, here is a complete class breakdown.

Diablo 2: Resurrected's Sorceress Lore

The Sorceress in Diablo 2: Resurrected is an innately curious magic-user who takes advantage of fire, lightning, and cold spells to control and decimate her enemies. She comes from an ancient and mysterious clan of female mages known as the Zann Esu. However, they are on a quest to find the purest form of magic possible, and they tirelessly seek out knowledge in hopes of being able to find it. This gives the Sorceress a very interesting backstory and curious nature that help make her stand out from the other classes in Diablo 2: Resurrected.

The Sorceress comes to fight the demonic forces in Diablo 2: Resurrected because the Zann Esu view their appearance in Sanctuary as the heralding of an event known as the Emergence. They believe that the event is meant to test their abilities and mages, and will decide whether or not their pursuit of pure magic has been successful enough to make them the strongest magic users in the land.

Sorceress' in Diablo 2: Resurrected start with 40 Life, 35 Mana, and 74 Stamina. Each time she levels up, her Life and Stamina goes up by one, and her Mana raises by 2. With each level, she also receives skill points that she can spend between her Strength, Dexterity, Vitality, and Energy, which start at 10, 25, 10, and 35 respectively. Putting a point in Vitality also increases her Life by 2 and her Stamina by 1 while raising her Energy increases her Mana by 2.

Her starting attributes make her the class with the highest mana pool in the game, although she is also a bit of a glass cannon to balance it out. The Sorceress focuses on high elemental damage output, and is weak in melee builds, but excellent when keeping enemies at a range. This makes her a fantastic choice for players who want to decimate demons and is one of the classic classes from Diablo 2.

The Sorceress' skills allow her to adapt to any encounter via a number of options. Being focused on dealing damage, the Sorceress excels at dealing with large crowds of smaller enemies as well as dealing high damage numbers to larger bosses. Her Ice Spells in particular are very proficient at grouping smaller enemies together and slowing them down before hitting them with more damaging attacks from her Lightning Spells. This helps the Sorceress stand out from other Diablo 2: Resurrected casters like the Druid or Necromancer.

The Sorceress' Fire Spells are useful for dealing high amounts of damage to enemies, especially Diablo 2: Resurrected's larger bosses and mini-bosses. The Sorceress also boasts a few different options to buff up her fellow party members, as well as some skills to help her avoid taking damage to her relatively shallow health pool. However, this does make her a more difficult class to make work in PvP modes, but it is possible with the right build. Either way, the Sorceress is a fantastic option for players interested in casting, and it will be very interesting to see how Diablo 2: Resurrected shapes up when it is released.

Diablo 2: Resurrected releases on September 23, 2021, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
