While fans have been expecting the highly anticipated Diablo 2: Resurrected to come sometime this year, it may be coming sooner than expected. During the Xbox showcase, it was revealed that Diablo 2: Resurrected will be coming at the tail end of summer.

Diablo 2: Resurrected invites fans to relive the Diablo 2 with classic, untouched gameplay and story, but with updated, modern visuals. As Diablo 2 is one of the most popular titles of all time, cracked versions of Diablo 2 Resurrected hit the internet following the alpha, but many have patiently waited for the true experience. Now, a date has officially been given for the release, September 23.

The street date trailer also serves to remind fans exactly why they should be excited. It's a tried-and-true experienced that can only be enhanced by next-gen capabilities, and while Diablo 2: Resurrected will be polished for the modern gamer—with 4K graphics, 7.1 Dolby Surround, and entirely redone cinematics—it will likely act as a reminder of a more hardcore gaming era. For those wanting to truly slot themselves back into the good old days, Diablo 2: Resurrected will also allow players to swap between the new graphics and the original 800x600 resolution with ease.

With only a few months left before the game releases, it's time for gamers to start thinking about their class choices. Since Diablo 2: Resurrected will release with both the original game and the expansion's content, both the Druid and the Assassin will be options at launch, but a case can still be made for players to jump in and play classics like the Barbarian. For gamers that want to enjoy Diablo 2: Resurrected on multiple platforms, the game will feature cross-progression, meaning that any progress made on one system will transfer to another.

The multiplayer open beta is also slated for later this summer in August. During the beta, which will be coming to all supported systems, players will be able to jump in and get their hands on nearly all of the classes including the Amazon, Barbarian, Paladin, Sorceress, and also the Druid. However, like the Diablo 2: Resurrected alpha test, the Necromancer and Assassin will not feature in the beta. This will be the final chance before the launch for players to jump in and generate feedback for the developers. Of course, all of the beloved classes from Diablo 2 will feature at launch, which, just to reiterate, is only about 100 days away.

Diablo 2 Resurrected will be available September 23, 2021 for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
