The long-awaited Diablo 2: Resurrected will launch at the end of next month, but fans of Blizzard's hack-and-slash dungeon crawling series won't have to wait quite that long to try the game out for themselves. Blizzard has now confirmed exactly when the Diablo 2: Resurrected open beta is kicking off, along with the early access start date.

Early access to the Diablo 2: Resurrected beat will start on Friday, August 13 at 10:00am PT and last through the weekend. Early access will be available to anyone that pre-orders Diablo 2: Resurrected or Diablo Prime Evil Collection on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. Even though there will be a Diablo 2: Resurrected Switch port, it is not going to be part of the early access weekend or the open beta at all.

Following the early access period, Diablo 2: Resurrected fans can look forward to the public open beta, which kicks off on Friday, August 20 at 10:00am PT and last through the weekend. Anyone on PC, PlayStation, or Xbox will be able to download and play the Diablo 2: Resurrected open beta that weekend. Progress made in the early access phase will carry over to the open beta, but it does not seem as though beta progression will carry over to the final game.

Fans will be able to experienced Diablo 2: Resurrected's first two Acts in the open beta, and they are free to level up as much as they want as there will be no cap. Players will be able to try Diablo 2: Resurrected's Paladin class as well as the Druid class, along with the standard Amazon, Barbarian, and Sorceress classes. And to make sure the open beta is reflective of the real Diablo 2 experience, the game will support online multiplayer and PvP.

The Diablo 2: Resurrected open beta is the final major step before the game itself launches in late September. The Diablo 2: Resurrected release date is right around the corner, and so those impressed by what they play in the beta don't have long to play the full game.

The release of Diablo 2: Resurrected will hopefully tide over fans of the franchise while they wait for the next entries in the long-running franchise. Up next is the Diablo Immortal mobile game that was controversial when it was first announced but has enjoyed some positive feedback from testers, and of course, Diablo 4 is also in active development as well. Fans can look forward to more news on both of those Diablo projects at some point after Blizzard has successfully launched Diablo 2: Resurrected.

Diablo 2: Resurrected is launching September 23 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
