Diablo 2: Resurrected is arriving in just one day and Blizzard is still sharing new information regarding the upcoming ARPG remake. The vast majority of Diablo 2: Resurrected will be an authentic recreation of the original Diablo 2, updated with new visuals. However, Blizzard studio Vicarious Visions is making improvements as necessary, particularly surrounding Diablo 2: Resurrected's user interface, multiplayer, and certain technologies. For example, it's now confirmed that Diablo 2: Resurrected will receive Nvidia DLSS support.

In a response shared via Twitter, Vicarious Visions graphics lead Kevin Todisco acknowledged a leak confirming that the team is working on Nvidia DLSS support for Diablo 2: Resurrected. He adds that DLSS will unfortunately not be ready for Diablo 2: Resurrected's launch, which explains why a more formal confirmation hasn't been made. Vicarious Visions is still working on the feature, according to Todisco. There's no timetable for its release, but it will hopefully be available in time.

DLSS is a technology developed by Nvidia that uses "deep learning" to upscale low-resolution images to appear as if high-resolution. In action, Nvidia DLSS allows a graphics card to recreate high-resolution gameplay but with less of a performance demand. This allows for higher framerates, as well as more available graphics power for other visual tasks. When DLSS is eventually added to Diablo 2: Resurrected, if everything goes according to plan, it'll help boost the game's framerates significantly, if used.

For the time being, however, Nvidia DLSS is exclusive to GeForce RTX 20 and GeForce RTX 30 graphics cards, which are in short supply. As such, DLSS will be available only to an exclusive minority of PC players, most of whom won't have issues with framerates in the first place. As for console, there is an alternative technology called FSR made by GPU competitor AMD. There's no indication that FSR will be supported for Diablo 2: Resurrected, however.

That said, Diablo 2: Resurrected players on PC will certainly take everything that Blizzard is willing to offer. Diablo 2 is a fast-paced game, particularly in PvP, and extra frames could make the difference between life in death. Competitive Diablo 2 players will absolutely take DLSS and make the most of it.

Keep in mind that Vicarious Visions has post-launch plans for Diablo 2: Resurrected, as well. It's highly dependent on Diablo 2: Resurrected's success and what players want, but there could be big things coming in the ARPG's future. DLSS support is just a part of what could be more robust ideas about how to make Diablo 2: Resurrected a modern success even beyond the original game's release.

Diablo 2: Resurrected releases September 23 on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
