Diablo 2 Resurrected, coming from Vicarious Visions and Blizzard Entertainment, apparently has some Mark "Marky Mark" Wahlberg Easter eggs, as it comes to light that there are multiple references to the actor in the game.

The remaster of Diablo 2 has many holding their breath after the fiasco of Warcraft 3 Reforged, which managed to frustrate passionate fans by Blizzard's handling of the reboot. With a heft of features being readily removed from Warcraft 3, including the original title itself, the handling of Diablo 2 has many fans of the title waiting with bated breath to see how Blizzard is going to handle what some consider to be the pinnacle of the franchise thus far.

In act 5, players will stumble across a craftsman by the name of Luzrok, who kicks off the Lord of Destruction expansion within Diablo 2 Resurrected, an NPC that is referenced from the image of actor Mark Wahlberg. This doesn't necessarily mean that gamers will immediately recognize the actor, but Luzrok took inspiration from Wahlberg. Blizzard Lead Artist Chris Amaral states that the primary references for NPCs are the sprites from the original title.

This means that the studio is clearly working to ensure that the nuance and the deft touch of Blizzard from yesteryear stay prominent within the game, rather than throwing the entire title aside for the opportunity to rebuild anew. An aspect that will likely have many sighing in relief as they watch Diablo 2 churn through development once again, over two decades later.

The Barbarian blacksmith is reportedly once again working the forge within Harrogath throughout Baal's siege of Arreat, offering to add sockets to players' items to give them just a little more power while beating back the unholy hordes of hell. Within lore, Lazruk is a progressive figure within warfare -  he offers advisement to Qual-Kehk of how they could make hot air balloons with sheepskin and a theory on riflery that could work. Both ideas were readily scoffed at by others within Harrogath, in spite of his smithing prowess.

This isn't the only reference to Mark Wahlberg reported within the upcoming Diablo 2 Resurrected, however - a weapon within the title known as The Diggler seems to make reference to Mark Wahlberg in Boogie Nights where he played Dirk Diggler. Or it could be a reference to the prior mockumentary The Dirk Diggler Story where John Holmes played a "well-endowed male porn star" struggling with the side effects of cocaine.

Whether it's the pornographic history of Mark Wahlberg's characters or his finely honed jawline, gamers can expect to see the actors' influence within the upcoming Diablo 2 Resurrected. Just know that they are aiming to mirror the pixelized sprites from the original Diablo 2 before adding the Marky Mark influence.

Diablo 2 Resurrected is scheduled to release sometime in 2021 for the PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch.
