New characters in Diablo 2: Resurrected show up at the rogue encampment flat-out broke. Earning even one hundred gold pieces takes a good amount of time and effort. So when equipment shows up for sale for over one thousand gold pieces, players might, mistakenly, try to save up and go for the big buy.

But nearly all purchases at this point in time will be replaced within one level, as enemies start amping up on the quality and level of gear dropped as players progress through the Diablo 2: Resurrected's story. That's not to say every penny must be pinched. There are several smart purchases in Act 1 was that help for the rest of the game.

Akara - Tome Of Town Portal

Whether activating legacy mode or not, Akara will always be in the southern-right corner of the camp. This is important as she sells several of the items on this list. This first is a Tome of Town Portal which comes with two Scrolls of Town Portal, but, more importantly, holds up to twenty scrolls inside of it. This item takes up only two spots in the player's inventory, saving a total of eighteen spaces for other equipment.

Akara - Tome Of Identify

Like the Tome of Town Portal, the Tome of Identify will save eighteen inventory spaces by holding twenty Scrolls of Identify. It also comes with four Scrolls of Identify included in the purchase. During the journey to find the Underground Passage in Act 1, players will surely pick up several magic items needing to be identified. Deckard Cain will end up identifying magic items for free, but he's not available yet. Even after he is available, it's more convenient to identify items on the spot.

Akara - Keys

Do not buy more than one set of three keys from Akara. By the end of Act 1, players will have more keys than they could ever want and will likely be selling them in stacks of twelve. However, there will be a few chests locked up before players find their first key, so one purchase should do the trick.

Charsi - Repairs

Especially at early levels, weapons and armor will wear away quickly and players that don't repair them will either have to hope for better equipment or equip inferior gear that they find. These are both unpleasant options. Find Charsi in the northeast portion of the camp and have her repair all gear in between adventures.

Gheed - Gambling

Keep in mind that all equipment won with Gheed, even legendary equipment, will be outdated by the time Act 2 ends. However, Andariel, the final boss in Act 1, is often referred to as the toughest boss in the game. If there is any equipment that isn't quite up to snuff, gamble with Gheed in the northwestern portion of the encampment until getting some suitable gear for taking on a tough challenge.
